The admission process of all NITs is done through JEE Main counselling conducted by Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA). Applicants shortlisted for the counselling process based on the merit list must register online to participate in the process. Candidates have to fill in their choices of institutes during the choice-filling process. After that, candidates are finally allocated seats according to their rank, locked options and seat availability. After downloading the allotment letter of JoSAA counselling, students have to pay Rs.35,000 as seat acceptance fees ( Rs15,000 for reserved category). JoSAA counselling Fee can be paid online mode or through e-challan.

The quality of education is good, and we also have a well-maintained library and a study room with a high-speed Wi-Fi connection. Most faculty are very good and hardworking, willing to help their students at any time. They may take lengthy classes and possibly extra classes at weekends too, but honestly speaking, they will complete the whole course in the class itself, and you don't even need to open the book. We have 10 faculty from our college on the Stanford University list of the 2% of best scientists in the world with 3 from the EE department. Why EE? Electrical Engineering is a hands-on discipline with an abundance of multidimensional career options. Electrical and electronics engineers can work in R&D, engineering services, manufacturing, government, and IT and business sectors. Having multiple specializations in electrical engineering will always open up more diverse career opportunities for you across sectors.

Summer Internships of 2 months are offered in the 3rd year (5th semester) starting in June. For the core students, Industrial / Vocational training is offered at the end of the 6th semester. For internships, we have a bit fewer though a decent number of companies, from almost all sectors, visit each year to recruit with some offering PPOs. To name a few Microsoft, Amazon, JPMC, Wells Fargo, Accenture, PwC, CESC, TVS Motors, etc. Final year projects are offered in the 7th semester and 8th semester under the respective Professors assigned with a chance to publish a research paper or be a part of it contributing to some of the best and unique ideas.

NIT Durgapur has pretty decent placements. About 200+ companies, giants, and startups from almost all sectors visit each year to recruit and the alumni base becomes solid year after year. To name a few Microsoft, Amazon, JPMC, Wells Fargo, Accenture, Oracle, Jio, Tata, Atlassian, ITC, HUL, ZS, Directi, Maruti, Honda, CESC, Ashok Leyland, PwC, etc. Summer Internships of 2 months are offered in the 3rd year (5th semester) starting from June mostly and the placement season generally commences in the same month for the final year students (7th semester) We also have some PSUs & Core companies visiting for mechanical and electrical students. CSE & ECE department records the highest stats of more than 95% placements with big tech giants like Microsoft, Amazon, Atlassian, etc. visiting here. In the placement season of 2021-22, the overall placement percentage was 83.5% and over 650+ offers, the highest being 57.28 LPA and the average being 11.54 LPA.

As for the fee structure for the 1st semester, there is Rs 107,300 while for the remaining semesters there is Rs 78,800 for B.Tech/DD courses. A 100% tuition fee exemption is also available to SC/ST/PH students and students whose family income is less than Rs.1 lakh per year. In addition, a 2/3 tuition fee discount for general and OBC students whose family income is between Rs.1 lakh to Rs.5 lakh p.a. is offered. For availing of the remission in fees, you need to submit a "Family Annual Income Certificate" during the admission process. To avail of scholarships, you can apply to the National Scholarship portal as per your eligibility. It carries multiple scholarships offered by the central government, state governments, and different government agencies like UGC (University Grants Commission).

The infrastructure is well-developed. The academic sections and departments are well-built and well-maintained. There are seven hostels for boys and two hostels for girls. The institute has a full-fledged physical training department with yoga, martial arts, etc. It is compulsory for the first years. We also have two playgrounds and a gym. Overall, the maintenance is good. We also organize South East Asia's second-largest techno-management fest called Aarohan. There are many clubs and societies at NIT Durgapur. Technical clubs include ISTE (Indian Society for Technical Education), RECURSION (for Geeks & Competitive Programmers), CCA (Center for Cognitive Activities), MNTC (Maths N Tech Club), GLUG (GNU Linux User’s Group), SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers). QuizInc is the official quiz club of the college. Then there are clubs like Literary Circle and Prakriti Club. If you have a passion for music and dance, there are Dance Club and Music Clubs.

There are seven hostels for boys and two hostels for girls to accommodate the admitted students. Wi-Fi is available throughout the campus but doesn't expect much over the quality of internet in hostels. LAN cables though are provided in some hostels. The mess serves breakfast, lunch, snacks, and dinner. The menu is decided by the mess committee members of the respective halls. Good food once a week (Special). Again don't expect much from the mess First-year boys are initially restricted to move out after 6 pm as a preventive measure against ragging. There are security guards always on guard 24x7, and regular cleaning is done in the hostels. Hostel Accommodation for 1st year and 2nd year is very good in terms of Infrastructure and spaciousness. Also, there is a branch of the State Bank of India, a branch of Canara Bank, a Guest House, and a Post-Office within the Institute Campus.
