Remarks
Admission to NIT DURGAPUR BTECH course is done based on Joint Entrance Examination(JEE) Main scores followed by JOSAA Counselling. Additionally, CSAB Special rounds of counselling are conductes by Central Seat Allocation Board for NIT+ System seats that are remained unfilled in JOSAA. Also, CSAB Special Round 2 Seat allotment is the last counseling round to be conducted for NIT DURGAPUR BTECH admissions. Half the seats are reserved for the Home State Quota and the other 50% for the Other State Quota. JEE MAIN constitutes reservation criteria for candidates belonging to backward and economically weaker sections.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is good enough here. I was interested in Electronics, which is an interesting vast field for a long time. The faculty-to-student ratio is around 1:6.NNIT DURGAPUR has an extremely talented pool of teachers, well versed in the domain of expertise. All the faculty at NIT DURGAPUR always will always go the extra mile, for you to make your dream come true. Almost all faculty have done their PhDs. And you will have a mid-semester exam within 2 months of starting the semester and finally and End the semester where you can manage to get a good pointer by overnight preparation.
Internships Opportunities
Internships are offered to students in a pre-final year. A good number of companies visit and hire interns for software developer roles, data analyst roles, etc. Companies like Microsoft, Amazon, JP Morgan Chase, Samsung R&D, PWC, etc hire interns with a good stipend provided.
Placement Experience
NIT DURGAPUR normally the placements commence at the beginning of the final year i.e, the seventh semester in the month of July. All students who expect to graduate from the institute by the end of the academic year are eligible for the placements. Many Reputed companies recruit students from here like Microsoft which offered a 51LPA package this year and other top recruiters include morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, Capgemini, Amazon, Vedanta, etc.
Fees and Financial Aid
Students from the general category and having an income of >5Lac per annum have to pay around 69k per semester. And OBC/general students having income between 1lac and less than 5lac will have to pay 29k per semester and less than 1lac are required to pay around 6.6k per semester with a tuition fee waiver.SC/ST/PH students also need to pay 6.6k per semester with a tuition fee waiver. Scholarships can be applied through various schemes in NSP etc.
Campus Life
The annual TECHNO MANAGEMENT fest is AAROHAN by team AAVISHKAR generally celebrated in the month of April and RECSTACY is the Annual CULTURAL FEST. The central library has a pretty good number of books you need. Classes are held in a NEW ACADEMIC BUILDING which is equipped with modern amenities and very well furnished. Football, Cricket, Volleyball, Badminton, Basketball, and TT are some of the sports practiced regularly. It is a must for all 1st-year students to engage in extra curricular activities. NIT DURGAPUR has many technical, literary, and Cultural clubs to keep up with your interest and skills.
