Review on VIT Vellore

I am doing my B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering and currently in 2nd year. I had a keen interest in mechanical engineering so I opted for this branch. There are 600-700 students in our branch and if we consider boys to girls ratio then there are mostly boys and a very low amount of girls in my branch and if we look at teaching staff or faculty then I can say here that mostly 80% of the faculties are equal to IIT professors only and 100% faculty are Ph.D. degree holders. There are 3 exams in a semester and if you study from the start then are like easy to pass only.

There are lots of Internship opportunities for CSE branches in companies like Amazon, Flipkart, Jio, Apple, etc. while for other branches also there are many opportunities that are decent if a student works hard for them.

In our university, the placements start at the end of the 3rd Year and for our branch, more than 50 core companies and IT companies visited VIT. For our branch, the average package is 5.5 lakhs per annum and the highest package is 50 lakhs per annum. Here mostly 100% of the students are placed and some students opt for higher studies also. For our branch companies like Tata, Infosys, Maruti Suzuki, Mercedes, and many more companies visit for placements and the placement is decent in VIT. For CSE branches the placements are excellent.

The fee structure of VIT is divided on the category system which is totally based on the rank you scored in the VITEEE exam There are 5 categories in VIT. The category 1 fee is 196000 per year and 1 lakh increases per category till 5. You can get a scholarship if your rank is under 1000.

There are two fests every year named Gravitas which is a technical fest and one is Rivera which is a mostly enjoyable fest of VIT in which celebrities visit to entertain our students. There is a 3-floor library in VIT which has more than 3000 books for each branch and course and the library is fully AC. Classrooms are like normal only, there is no AC for theory classes but AC is installed in the lab rooms. There are various sports facilities in VIT like swimming, basketball, football, etc. also there are more than 15 clubs and chapters in VIT which is very interesting.

The hostels are best in VIT if we leave some of the blocks. the mess provides excellent meals, lunch, dinner and breakfast which is of excellent quality and also there is a lot of variety, Currently, I am living in VIT Hostels only and the price of the hostels are also very nominal per year.

For admission firstly you have to apply for the VITEEE exam through vit official website mostly in July or august then the exam is conducted in offline mode. Sorry to say but there are no reservation benefits. There is a category-based fee system that is based on your rank scored in the VITEEE exam. The minimum Category is 1 which charges 196000 fees per year and as the category increases you have to pay 1 lakh extra for admission. VIT should remove or at least reduce the category system which will reduce the intake of students and students will get a good experience.
