Likes
- I liked the Idea behind its establishment. An affordable education to the masses of the colonial India. This University was established by Mahamana Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya by donation. They roamed in entire Nation to get funds for its establishmen
- Arts faculty is the Oldest faculty of this university. Its an honor to study over here. It has multiple departments with excellent faculties. This University gives us the full enjoyment of Campus life.
- Department of Ancient History is excellent. They have experienced, co-operative and largest faculty. They have a museum in their department too. It is quite fascinating to see the history in making.
Dislikes
- They do lack in cultural activities, soft skill development and exposure. Students too are more focused to fetch a government job or qualify a competitive exam. Meanwhile a few linguist, drama societies are doing their best to make up.
- Students over here are too under informed. Despite being an All India Institute, the regionalism is at its peak at BHU. Those who want to study English, management or economics- should move to DU.
- In Ancient history department, they do lack modern courses like, Archeogenetics, archaeobotany and archae- zoology.Lack of scientific elements are clear in this department. Thus they teach it in a cult classic way.
Course Curriculum Overview
My course- is Ancient Indian History, Culture and Archaeology. BHU has the largest faculty strength (34) of AIHC in the whole nation. The student-teacher ratio is also good. And are quite easy to pass. Midterm exams and semester exams ate the two main tests.
Fees and Financial Aid
BHU is way cheaper than any other university of India. Despite being 6th ranking university in India , it has nominal fees. It has the biggest accommodation facilities in entire Asia. Fees are remained stable. They are hiked in special cases. If a student gets good grade in CUET UG, he will get a fully furnished hostel. Thus his expenses are reduced drastically. If a student is poor and has his income certificate, he may avail a scheme called 'Earn while Learn scheme ' . Thus can manage his expenses .
Campus Life
They just have an annual fest called Spandan. Although, IIT, IMS, and Science faculty conduct such fest quite often. Hostels have their annual sports meet. BHU is rich in grounds. Many sports are played here. The gymnasium and swimming pool are also here.
Hostel Facilities
BHU has the largest In campus accommodation facility in the entire ASIA. It has multiple hostels for all faculties. But the oldest among them is Birla and Broca hostel. Mess is functional at hostels. Mess isn't a part of the Hostel. They are run by independent owners commonly called- Mess Maharaj. Food quality is good but like all mess, they too add a lot of oil.
Admission
I had my high school with Biology stream. I moved to BHU for a better hold in Arts. Eligibility of course - Class 12 from any recognized board. Application is streamlined by CUET- UG. Application fees are decided by NTA annually. Reservation- Seats are reserved for various categories. Physically challenged students compulsorily get a hostel. The admission process is good. But they should maintain regular contact with students while admission.
