Course Curriculum Overview

3

The course curriculum is very vast and exhaustive in most cases. I chose CSE because my college is the most popular for this branch and the placement is good. Each class has a max 1:60 faculty: student ratio. All faculties are PhD at least. Teaching method varies from professor to professor as some prefer theoretical knowledge while others prefer practical application.

Internships Opportunities

4

Many companies come for internships and overall around 200 students were hired for internships amongst 6000 students in 3rd year. The companies include - UBS (paying 40k per month), Expedia (paying 35k per month), TVS Motors (paying 25k per month), UPL (paying 75k per month), MotorQ (paying 1 lakh 50k per month), etc.

Placement Experience

4.5

For bachelors, students 3rd year start getting offers for internships in good companies like UBS, Citi Bank, Expedia, etc. From the start of 4th year till the end, the actual placement for full-time jobs goes on. In the starting, slot 1 company (the highest paying companies) come and hire the best students within 2-3 weeks. These companies include Microsoft, Amazon, Atlassian, Udaan, Paypal, etc which usually pay higher than 25 lakhs. Followed by this, Super Dream (10lpa+) and Dream(6lpa) companies start hiring. This goes on for the next 6 months when tons of companies come. The college boasts a 100% placement record thanks to service-based companies like TCS and Wipro.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fee is very expensive. Most students are paying atleast Rs.4,00,00 / year for tuition. And atleast 1,00,000/year for hostel and mess. The hostels are clean and well maintained in comparison to other colleges, but still the expensive hostels charge as much as Flats and PG's while they offer very little in comparison. Scholarships are given to merit scholars (top 10 in each department) in tuition fee waivers. Campus placements are very active and alot of opportunities come. Around 800 companies come during the placement season.

Campus Life

2

Campus life is one of the worst. While some restrictions make sense, most are very conservative restrictions. Very strict discipline policy and very authoritarian rule. The main fest is Riviera (whose videos can be found on youtube). A very good and stocked-up library with a robust management system. Classrooms are average projector based with fans and lights. Ample club and chapter opportunities for students to join and nurture their skills and passion.

Hostel Facilities

2.5

We have a hostel facility. There are 18 big buildings (or blocks) in the men's hostel to accommodate the students. The fee is very high mostly in comparison to the services offered. AC rooms are available. There is a 24x7 electricity supply and every hostel has elevators (although in some big buildings, the no. of elevators don't cater to demand fully). There is a water supply throughout the day. The cleaning staffs clean the toilets every day. Mess food is very average. Many different companies have been outsourced for handling the food mess. Most messes are not very good, although some are very good (like Foodcy). After every academic year, new hostels are allocated based on students' choice and their CGPA.

Admission

The admission is usually through VITEEE. I was Covid batch, so VITEEE wasn't conducted. For us 70+30 % weightage was given to Boards(70%) and JEE mains (30%) results. There are 5 categories based on ranks for admission fees. Category 1 fee is 1,45,000 and Category 5 fee is 5,00,000 (both are given per year). I had category 3 whose fee was 4,05,000/year. My JEE rank was 95 percentile and my board was 94.6%. My calculated rank for VIT was around 19,000 and hence I got category 3. The first batch of counselling only had the top 20,000 people. For VIT Vellore, only the top 1,00,000 ranked students are eligible.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum is relevant and provides a good balance of theoretical knowledge and practical learning. It prepares students for real-world applications, but more industry projects, practical sessions, and updated teaching methods would help. Exams are generally well-spaced and moderately difficult.

Placement Experience:

Placements are generally decent, with students becoming eligible from the final year. Several companies visit for recruitment, offering roles in technical and non-technical fields. Packages vary by company, and placement opportunities depend on skills and performance. Many students secure jobs, while others pursue higher studies or competitive exams.
