Remarks

PEC Chandigarh is one of the best institutes of the country. Critically evaluating its performance over the last few years, there have been ups and downs but things are changing and have changed in recent months ,it has been pushing itself for an upgrade to IIT. The atmosphere is amazing! You get to interact with people from different states. In PEC, students are really good. they are bright, eager to learn and go ahead.

Entrance Preview

In 2016 ,I gave JEE Mains in which I got a rank around 11k. There was a counselling held by JAC Chandigarh, in which students had to submit their documents and get them verified. As I had a keen interest in electronic items since my childhood ,later on my interest paved a way for me to enter this branch in PEC university of technology, Chandigarh

Course Curriculum Overview

4

A course is quite useful and might be in a great demand in the upcoming few years. Yes there is a much emphasis on practical knowledge rather than bookish knowledge. Every week there are labs as well as tutorials conducted for the students. Green Chemistry and wastewater treatment are some of the research projects. If the Student fulfils the CGPA criteria of the particular semester he/she can opt for other courses as well.

Internships Opportunities

The college is lucky to have a great internship culture. With the companies coming to hire interns every odd semester for 6 months, students get a good industrial exposure with good stipends in the 6th semester itself.

College Events

4

PECFEST is the annual cultural -technical festival of PEC University of Technology. Indisputably the region's biggest youth fest, it attracts a crowd of 20,000 from all over the country. Having hosted eminent personalities from all the domains of entertainment and industry, PECFEST has earned a reputation that speaks for itself. It was well organised as well as college authorities try their best to make the event successful.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure of the institute is well organised and the semester fees of the student is very less as compared to other private institutes of the country. Admission fee Rs. 4,000 One-time student service fee Rs. 5,000 Refundable deposit Rs. 5,000 Semester fees Academic Rs. 55,000 Other facilities & services Rs. 5,250 Total payable at the time of admission (for day scholar) Rs. 74,250/ Additional fee for hostlers Refundable security Rs. 5,000 Hostel Fee & Mess Establishment charges (Annual) Rs. 48,000 Mess Advance Rs. 2,500 Maintenance Charges Rs. 7,000 Total additional sum payable for hostel facilities Rs. 62,500/-

Fees and Financial Aid

Scholarships are given to students on merit and means basis or on merit basis to those excelling in academic, project work, leadership qualities, all-round performance, extracurricular activities, sports etc.I wasn't able to avail any scholarship. Yes the college tries its best to get loan for a meritorious student.

Campus Life

4

The college has many and many active clubs and technical societies forming an integral part of the campus life. Every week there are activities happening around the campus showering on the inner talent of the students. There are best facilities for the activities that are being run by the college. PEC is one of the most reputed engineering colleges in north India with a successful legacy of producing some great results in the past.

Hostel Facilities

3

Yes I have been residing in Shivalik hostel since my admission in the college. Earlier in the first semester I was alloted a double sharing room but in second semester I was given a single room.Fee for hostlers Refundable security Rs. 5,000 Hostel Fee & Mess Establishment charges (Annual) Rs. 48,000 Mess Advance Rs. 2,500 Maintenance Charges Rs. 7,000 Total additional sum payable for hostel facilities Rs. 62,500/- The food was good and hygienic in the precious semesters but now it is not so good as well as there is a limit on the food this time.

Alumni/Alumna

Alumni of PEC are settled in all parts of the world and are serving human society as engineers, technologists, managers and entrepreneurs. They visit our college and that is a most proud moment for our college as we imagine ourselves that one day we would also be on their place .Many alumni batches contributed for the overall development of students as well as college.

Exam Structure

The college has well equipped labs for research and development. And in every semester, two types of exams that is mid semester and end semester take place. Also quizzes of each and every subject are taken after particular instant of time . Every week there are labs and practicals. Yes we can say that schedule is somewhat tiring but to gain something one has to toil.

Faculty

4.5

The teaching faculty in this college is comparatively young, intelligent and cooperative. There are some teachers who have a great experience too. Many teachers in other departments are working for many years, have a traditional outlook but are intelligent. Rest of them are trying to get better. They interact well with students as well as try to get feedback from them so that they can improve themselves.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would rate the course plan around 7 out of 10 in terms of relevance and depth. I chose this course mainly because it includes core tech subj like DSA, DBMS, OS, AI and cloud, which are useful for jobs in tech field. The presence of lab work and proj based learning also influenced my choice. The curriculum gives a fair base in theory and basic prac skills. It helps in campus place prep and also builds base for higher study like MTech or MS. But real world skill still depends a lot on self study, online course and side proj. Some topics feel updated, but a few subj are still too theory heavy and not linked to real case use. Exams are held twice as mid test and once as end term in each sem. There are also quiz, viva and lab eval. The level is moderate. If you attend class and revise notes, it is manageable. For improve, more live proj, hack event, ind visit and case study should be added. Teach method should shift more to code demo and less slide read
