Remarks

The infrastructure can be improved upon along with the hostel food.

Entrance Preview

There was a 3 step selection process. There was an entrance exam which tested my writing skills. Then a personal interview. The purpose was to understand my personality and skills and whether the course which we had chosen would be compatible with it. My course had auditions as well.

Course Curriculum Overview

The course which I am studying is PEP (performing arts, English studies and Psychology) . The focus is on Performing arts. There is a lot of importance given to practical learning which includes dance programs, competitions and theater festivals. Our CIA's focus on research. The electives are a part of the course and are about bharatnatyam, carnatic music, proscenium and playback theatre.

Internships Opportunities

For our course, internships are provided in the second year. We are taken to places abroad or in India depending on our majors and given an opportunity to work with touring troupes.

Placement Experience

I do not know about the placements for my particular course yet. But, a lot of good companies like amazon come for the placements.

College Events

A lot of fests are organized throughout the year. The most popular ones are the Bhasha Utsav and Darpan. Darpan is an intra colegiate fest and the entire college is a part of these competitions. It is a month long fest. Bhasha Utsav is ethnic day where we celebrate the different cultures across the world.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee is quite nominal. For my course, it costs 45000 per year along with the electives.

Campus Life

There Is a lot of opportunities for sports and extra curricular. There are competitions held through which anyone can be a part of the Cultural team and can participate in inter collegiate competitions.

Hostel Facilities

I do not stay in a hostel. But I have heard that they are extremely strict about security.

Exam Structure

We have practical exams which involve putting up a play. The practice hours, though a lot of fun is after college hours and can become quite stressful. The course drives us hard but it helps us a lot as well.

Faculty

The teaching faculty is really good. All the teachers are extremely talented and are very experienced. The teachers are very interactive and teach us through a lot of fun exercises. We constantly have exchange programs where we are introduced to different types of dance and music.

Likes

The campus was too good in its environment.
The exposure was too good with good library facilities.
We can socialise with Pan Indian exposure

Dislikes

Hostel facilities was not well maintained
Hostel food was not that much good sometimes
College was situated in a rural place, it was so hard to travel.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The BA English curriculum at the Central University of Karnataka is comprehensive and academically relevant. The course covers British Literature, American Literature, Indian Writing in English, Literary Theory, Linguistics, and Cultural Studies, providing students with a strong foundation in language and literature. The interdisciplinary approach under NEP and the availability of electives were among the factors that influenced my decision to choose this course.

A honest Review of KJC

Likes

Well maintained Campus with almost 4 blocks and a lot of canteens
knowledgeable faculty and a lot of interesting and practical subjects
A lot of fests and programs almost every day

Placement Experience:

We have a separate placement cell, and everyone interested can join in for the same. We have students placed in target, Deloitte, Accenture and other companies, both domestic and international. Students in the final year can be eligible for the campus placements.

Likes

The quality of teaching for my course - BA Economics (Hons) is exceptional. The professors give quality time with each student to ensure concepts are clear and go beyond the surface level teaching of all concepts.
Every student gets their own mentor, who is a professor within the University who will help you guide yourself through everything, ranging from academic difficulties to personal grievances. There are regular sessions scheduled with these mentors..
There is plenty of freedom in the university. Unlike other university's there is no strict dress code or unreasonable rules for the students to follow. The campus allows each indivitual to be true to themselves.

Dislikes

The campus is very far from the city, making it difficult to have any sort of weekend get aways to the city tiresome. There are very few places around the campus that will let you experience city life.
The university does not encourage competitive spirit festivals like youth festivals apart from sports. Hence narrowing down the avenues where students can get certificates for extra curriculars to add on to your CVs
Academic rigor can get too overwhelming sometimes and one may not get time to study for other parallel exams for masters like GMAT, CAT, GRE etc. Finding time for extra curriculars may also get difficult.

Placement Experience:

The university does have a placement team which faculy and student led. Studnets become eligible for placements towards the end of their fourth year - last semeter. Approximately 100-150 NGO's come to campus for recruiting. The university does not promote private firms for placement but students can apply indivitually. The average pay is 20 Lakh per year. Many students after undergraduation opt for higher studies, so is my plan. But most of the master's students opt for placement and 98% - 99% get placed into NGO in top positions. I plan to pursure a masters degree after my undergraduation, preferably in economics.

Insight into KJC by a real life student

Likes

The campus is a plus. It's really clean and green. They really take care of the cleanliness of the Campus. As for the girls to boys ratio, in my class there are more girls than boys. Idk much about college overall.
I like my professors a lot. But it's all about luck. I got nice ones.
We have LMS in college. So we are provided with notes and syllabus online that we can use anytime we want.

Dislikes

The administrative office is very annoying sometimes. Just to answer one question they send the students to different offices and waste our time.
I don't understand the dress code system. I mean it's good but girls are not allowed to wear long skirt. I'm not talking about short clothes. But even long skirts are not allowed.
I would say I dislike the locality sometimes. It's not that developed so there's always something kind of construction going on which causes a lot of pollution and breathing problem specially for me with breathing issues.

Course Curriculum Overview:

We get to learn many things not because of just the syllabus and courses but also because of the national and international conferences that are held in our college. People from other colleges come in and share their knowledge with us. This experience is really good for us students. We even have expert lectures from our alumnis who give us advice on what all is required in the world outside college to earn. All these are really helpful.

An Idea Before you step in about Christ University Central Campus.

Ok so when it comes to BSc Life Sciences as a course I think in Karnataka I guess only 3 educational institutions provide one is Christ University, Mount Carmal College(MCC) and Atria University as of I know . As soon as i got to know I applied and ya I got selected in all three (that was surprising for me too) so I got a chance to choose so I had to do it wisely finacially , reputation , facilites, campus etc I considered so Atria was out of my list even tho it had many plus points just because it was too expansive for me , they charged around 3L per year which was too much when compared MCC and Christ .So now why did I choose Christ over MCC this was simple , Christ is a university and had an option of Honers with research and I also got a schlorship here worth 20,000 and ya they have their way of selection which you can find them on their website and ya it is also clear there so you will not have a problem understanding it....Read More

Christ College Life: A Rollercoaster Full of experience

I chose this college over other law colleges because this provides a good location advantage, and also it has a great reputation, also it provides really good future opportunities. This college also provides better placements than other colleges. Other colleges that were better than this college are national law universities, but I was not able to get admission there because my CLAT rank was not high enough to get admission. The college is good interms of development of the students as it focuses on the allover development of the students. But when it comes to studies it is very difficult for the students to manage.
