Course Curriculum Overview
In my college i.e., NIT DURGAPUR I've got mechanical engineering and it's the oldest department of our college, there is a good placement record in mechanical engineering. 50% of the faculty of our college passed out from this college only and we don't have female faculties in our department till now. All faculties are well qualified from renowned institutes. We have semester exams twice i.e, mid-semester and end semester, and between them, there are labs and lab vivas. You have to study well to score good marks cause ofcourse we have more subjects than other departments from like 3rd semester.
Internships Opportunities
Maximum of the students get their internship in the 3rd yr or 2nd yr that's less. MS, PWC, Bajaj, etc. give internships to students from different branches of BTech. I've just got to second year so I don't know more about those things.
Placement Experience
From the 6th semester, students are eligible for placements. Companies like Microsoft, John Deer, Bajaj, reliance, Byju, Adobe, LNT, PWC, etc. visit our college for campus placements. The highest package is 57 lakhs from Microsoft. average package is 12 lakhs. About 80 % of students get their campus placement easily. I want to get a good placement and will go for GATE to get a PSU job or an on-campus PSU.
Fees and Financial Aid
You can get a detailed fee structure of academics on the website of NITdgp, there are categories of giving fees, and as of now, we have to pay a 19k mess fee per semester. One can get scholarships like SVMCM, OASIS, OPJPMC, and many more. If you're a student from the West Bengal board you definitely get SVMCM and Oasis.
Campus Life
There are annual and tech fest namely RECSTACY and AAROHAN that happens in around March. We also have a food fest named RECRAVE and E-SUMMIT, VIRASAT-like things. There is a good stock of books available in the library which mostly are required. There is no dress code but students should not go to the academic section in half pants, it's prohibited and girls should wear decent clothes appropriate for classes. Students have co-curricular activities compulsory in the 1st year, there is yoga, cricket, football, table tennis, lawn tennis, basketball, badminton, taekwondo, athletics, etc. We have almost 30 clubs including tech and cultural.
