Course Curriculum Overview

2.5

I chose this course because it was in line with my college and JEE Mains rank and it had some good placement in the past and I didn't want to choose Cse in tier 3 college. There are adequate faculty and some faculty are good but they are quite strict about attendance and sometimes give unnecessary work and don't listen to anyone. Qualification of the faculty is average but the teaching is old conventional board lectures of outdated topics which might not even be relevant today Term exams were timely and the teacher took the class timely it was very easy to pass in our college due to relative marking they don't fail students easily so it's quite easy to pass but getting a good CG is quite difficult due to intense competition.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

Many companies visit the campus for the internship Goldman Sachs offers a stipend of around 50k while Microsoft offer a stipend of 125000 and many other companies also visit the campus. I don't much about projects but roles are mostly of software developers.

Placement Experience

3.5

yes, I think so best part about the college are placement was there are many top-tier companies which visit this college such as Microsoft, Amex, Goldman Sachs, Arcesium and many other reputed companies visit the college. At the mostly everyone gets placed in one or the other company in circuital branches but the ratio is less in non-circuital branches as its quite difficult to get a job the highest package given was 84 lakh followed by Apple with package of 60 lakh then Microsoft with package of 50 lakh. The average package for CSE is 24 lakh ECE is 20 lakh and electrical is 15 lakh. More than 70 percent of students get placed in PEC. My plan after my degree is either to get a good placement or pursue Mtech from the USA.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee structure is familiar there is a semester fee of around 94000 rupees and yearly hostel fees of around 82000. There may be a fee hike of 10 percent every year but I am not so sure about it. There are many scholarships given to students but mostly those target students with very low-income families (BPL) if your family is above 4 lakh it's very difficult to get a scholarship and for category students, the fees are half of what other students pay. I don't there are any on-campus jobs but college provides the opportunity for an internship in the 3rd year with some very reputed companies coming in.

Campus Life

4

if you are a hosteler the campus is above average but if you are a day scholar it will be more like school. Our college is 150 acres on paper but in reality, it's average as most of it is covered by residential areas for faculty. There are some people out there and you will find a club for everything from dance to drama there are clubs for everything if the club is not available you can start your own. Our annual fest is called PECFEST and it is one the best events of the year with multiple stars coming in to perform and lots of crowd it's a 3 day very fun event and conducted mostly in November and some other notable events are of Entrepreneurship etc. I think the main of pec that it is in the city so we can order whatever we want and go wherever we want as Chandigarh is a really nice place to live. The library is kinda small but has all the books and ac but rarely do we need books mostly we study from ppt. Classrooms are so-so as you expect in any other government college.

Hostel Facilities

2.5

In the first semester, we had to share rooms it was a single-seater room but two students had to share it after the first semester we were given personal rooms the rooms are I would say okay to live you will get used to it after a few days and bathroom too they are small but gets the job done at least they are cleaned regularly. Mess is an interesting part as our breakfast and lunch are quite good but dinner is poor they give only 3-4 pieces of paneer and dal quality is also sub-standard. Process is simple on the day of admission just give the attendant a demand draft of the amount and they will assign you a room after that you can shuffle as per your choice. But I would say they are charging us more than any other government college.

Admission

Yes, the entrance is purely based on jee mains and for any circuital branch( electrical, ece, cse)a minimum of 95 percentile is required. The application form is on the Jossa website there are no fees on Jossa but after 6 rounds of Jossa there are special rounds of csab in which we have to pay 40000 rupees which will be adjusted in the semester 1 fees if the seat is allotted and if the seat is not allotted it will be refunded in 2 months. I think there are many improvements required first the website can show the average package of the college and gives an estimation prediction of which college we should prefer on our requirements and we should be able to change the preference.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would rate the course plan around 7 out of 10 in terms of relevance and depth. I chose this course mainly because it includes core tech subj like DSA, DBMS, OS, AI and cloud, which are useful for jobs in tech field. The presence of lab work and proj based learning also influenced my choice. The curriculum gives a fair base in theory and basic prac skills. It helps in campus place prep and also builds base for higher study like MTech or MS. But real world skill still depends a lot on self study, online course and side proj. Some topics feel updated, but a few subj are still too theory heavy and not linked to real case use. Exams are held twice as mid test and once as end term in each sem. There are also quiz, viva and lab eval. The level is moderate. If you attend class and revise notes, it is manageable. For improve, more live proj, hack event, ind visit and case study should be added. Teach method should shift more to code demo and less slide read
