Likes

Peer group that I got at NIT Durgapur, that helped me grow.
Very good senior junior relation and guidance regarding career and other aspects.
Education Quality, Faculty and the various opportunities on-campus.

Dislikes

Sports facilities could have been better.
Hostel with single rooms should have been allotted to senior students.
The location of the college is remote. Nothing much to do outside college.

Course Curriculum Overview

The faculty-to-student ratio is very good and provides students with ample opportunities to gain knowledge. The faculties are all well qualified and eager to share their knowledge with the students. Exam dates are supplied at the beginning of the semester only and exam takes place roughly around the given dates. The exams are standard but attending classes regularly provides the students with enough knowledge to pass the exam with flying colors.

Internships Opportunities

Microsoft offered SDE Internship with 1.25L stipend per month. Wells Fargo offered summer analyst role with 90k stipend per month. Other big companies that came on-campus with internship offers were Mathworks, Samsung, BNY Mellon, Qualcomm,etc.

Placement Experience

Placements in NIT Durgapur are good. High-paying companies like Microsoft, Wells Fargo, etc do visit on-campus for both internship and full-time roles. 5th and 6th semester students are eligible for summer internship offers on campus. 7th and 8th semester students are eligible for full-time offers. Many companies offer 6 month internships which the college allows by giving students the flexibility of attending classes online. PSUs like BPCL, HPCL, EIL, etc visit on-campus.

Fees and Financial Aid

NIT Durgapur follows the same fee structure as all other NITs. Concession based on the family's annual income and candidate's category is available. Candidates with a family income of less than 1 lakhs per year pay no tuition fees. Candidates with a family income of above 1 lakh per month and less than 5 lakhs per year pay one-third of the tuition fee. Others pay full tuition fees. Reserved category students do get a concession on their fees. Placements at NIT Durgapur are good and provide students a good return on their investment.

Campus Life

Campus life here is happening. RECstacy and Aarohan are the annual cultural and tech fests respectively. The library is well-equipped with books and journals. Classrooms are modern with projectors for a more immersive learning experience. Two big grounds are there for the sports enthusiasts. Student Activity Center provides students with facilities for their overall development and also coordinates all selections of NIT Durgapur students for all India inter-NIT sports meets. NIT Durgapur has many clubs that cater to the student's extracurricular needs and overall development.

Hostel Facilities

Hostels are good. Triple-sharing accommodation is provided throughout the course in different hostels. The food here may not be like home-cooked meals, but it is good enough unlike other hostels. Food quality improves as one moves to the senior hostels. The hostel fees in 17000 per semester as of 2024. It is taken at the beginning of the semester. It is s residential college, so everybody stays in the allotted hostels,

Admission

NIT Durgapur admits Indian citizens based on their JEE Mains rank, participating in counseling via the JOSAA portal alongside other NITs. Branch-wise and category-wise cutoffs are available on the JOSAA website. The JEE Mains application is on the official NTA website, with exam dates typically in January and April. Application fees vary based on category.

Likes

The IIT brand value.Great placements and internship opportunities
Competitive peers and lots of ongoing.Great environment
Lush green campus, lots to explore and great infrastructure

Dislikes

Rigorous academics, hectic exam schedules
Hostel infrastructure is quite old and mess food quality is just acceptable.
Professors teaching style can be quite boring as well

Placement Experience:

Placement statistics of IIT Kharagpur is excellent with multiple offers made across software, quant, consulting , analytics and core domain.Major companies like Google, Microsoft, Optiver, Visa,Mastercard visit the campus each year for recruitment.Highest packages are offered by quant companies and can go upto 2 - 2.5 crore per annum

Good Internship Opportunities

Helpful Faculties, the faculties over here helped us through out the course
Good clean and green campus with water supply at different places in the campus
Structured syllabus for industrial readiness in the curriculum

Dislikes

Nothing such I have disliked, but some classrooms projector did not functioned properly
Some time the guards unnecessarily behaved rude which I hated the most

Placement Experience:

The placement cell provides us with training programs and internships and also if the students are careful and disciplined in the classroms they can crack through job interviews. There is mock viva at the end semester and also some on campus hiring companies came in our college.

BCREC a underrated college

Likes

In my batch there are 64 student and there is only 17 girls.so the girl boy ratio is good.
This college has the largest campus of all the college in the West Bengal so college campus is really good
As I am a student of information technology so they are teaching me the course subject and also soft skill subjects that can help me in my placement journey

Dislikes

The college is located in rural area which is the bad thing
The course curriculum is not at the level of IIT NITs as we are studying some subjects which are introduced in the late semester which IIT and it and study in their second or third semester
The third thing I don't like is that the Student of the college discriminate among each other like the local residents who are bengali's day prefered their friend as Bengali

Placement Experience:

The college average placement are 6 lakh per annum and in my branch out of 64 student only 30 God placement but the mistake is of the students because many companies are visiting our colleges but they couldn't find the talent required for the skilled person they required

The college provides a moderately good infrastructure so it is more or less good. However some lab equipments have gotten old so upgrading those would be appreciated.
The teachers and students are very friendly so interacting is very easy. Teachers are mostly experienced and quite knowledgeable in their field of expertise. However the college follows the curriculum suggested by makaut which feels outdated.

Dislikes

The college doesn't give any options to play anything in college in their free time so that's an issue in my opinion. Also college isn't keen on giving NOCs for internships. Also they don't tend to provide funding to projects developed by students.

Placement Experience:

Studentsbecome eligible for placements from 7th semester. Various companies such as TCS, Infosys, Accenture, Wipro, Tech Mahindra, Godrej, etc. come for placements. Earlier many offers used to come however in the recent years the number of offers made have reduced significantly. highest package comes around 10 to 11 lakhs per annum with average being 4-5 lakhs per annum. I have kept my options open after completion of degree in doing further studies that is Mtech or getting into a job whichever seems appropriate at the situation.

mostly from end of third year students start getting campus placements and companies like TCS AND WIPRO HIRE MAJORITY of the students. The average package is 450000 and highest package every year goes upto 9-12 lakhs per annum. I want to go into core Electronics domain for which I am preparing for masters as no core electronics companies come in this college

GOOD College at low fees.

Likes

The campus is very big of the college which is about 50 acres and very greenly campus
The events and clubs with sports held in campus is very good and very happening
The placement opportunities in this college is very good and the faculties are very supportive

Dislikes

The infrastructure is bit old and renovates it bit very late which impact in bit difficulty
The senior are very supportive but at the same time they are very strict regarding the discipline which they call it ragging
The location of the college is bit outside of the main city so you can find it bit difficulty in your starting days of living here

Placement Experience:

Placement of my college are quite good with a avg package of 6 to 7 lpa and higest package of 45 lpa and this year the higest package is 75 lpa. The companies visited in my college are infosys, Capgemini,tcs,wipro, Mindtree,IBM, sometimes amazon also.The placement rate of the college is 85 to 95%.

use of projector is very helpful for us .
faculties behaviour is good ,they are quite helpful toward us.

small area campus is that what I do not like
canteen facilities are not good enough .
small space library are not enough for all students

after 6th sem those students who scored above 7 CGPA are eligible for campus placements. name of companies- TCS,Campgemini,Accenture,Delloite etc. average package -320000 70 percent most of students got placed. I want to job at IT sector after getting the degree.

Fair college according to me

Likes

The college management is really up to the mark. I am from the computer science and engineering department.
Good placements according to the amount you pay.
Good environment for coding and development.

Dislikes

There are a lot of extra clubs which are not so functional.
Hostels are good but not up to the mark .
The play ground is available but not inside the campus.

Placement Experience:

Our college provide really good placements if the student is really eligible for employment. There are adequate no. Of companies visiting the campus. Some big companies are - MICROSOFT, LAB VANTAGE, DELTAX, RTCAMP, DELOITTE, ACCENTURE, PERSISTENT SYSTEMS, IBM, MUSIGMA, TIGER ANALYTICS, KEY SIGHT TECHNOLOGIES, KEYENCE, MANIKARAN POWER, TCS, E&Y etc. The highest package is around 20 lpa and the avarage is around 5 - 6 lpa. Placements are better for cse, it and ece. The core branches have mediocre placements.

The library system is good. With many authors and writers available.
The faculty is helpful and coperative.The faculty helps the students in their studies and day to day problems faced in the college.
The classrooms are enough big to accommodate the strength chosen by the faculty.

Dislikes

The labs are not very well equipped. The monitors and PC are back dated versions.
The washrooms are not very well maintained and they stink.
The faculties are not very helpful in the project work and personal academic life of the students.

Placement Experience:

From 4th year students are allowed to sit for placement. Tcs, wipro, Capgemini are the mass recruiters of our college. Other companies visit as well Deloitte, accenture and many more. The average package being is 4 lakhs per annum and the highest being around 10 lakhs per annum.

You can focus on gate, or any other job teachers are helpful no issue of attendance.
easily pass as syllabus is not hard,and get a B.tech degree.

Dislikes

poor infracture, lack of resources such as sports facility.
Less qualified teachers with no PHDs, and familiar with basic knowledge.
No placements, whatever you can do is off campus only

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum is perceived as average , lacking specific elements that might make it stand out. In my case, the motivation was not to waste a year by opting for a drop. The flexibility in attendance which let me focus on other interests. The curriculum is same as MAKAUT, and the exam frequency is also controlled by MAKAUT .Areas of improvement is infrastructure and better faculty.

I applied for multiple NITs During Josaa Counselling but my top 5 suitable choice according to my home location and considering other limiting factors was NIT Rourkela, NIT Silchar, NIT Durgapur, NIT Patna and IIEST Shibpur. Apart from these, I have also Applied for Calcutta University and Jadavpur University. I have got approval from NIT DGP,Calcutta University and Jadavpur University. But I have chosen NIT because of better Placement records and better campus Life. Moreover it's an Institution of of National Importance and Hold a good NIRF rank. So I preferred this choice above others. I wasn't rejected from the above colleges, but simply i didn't get the eligible rank for them. And the 3 which I got, i choosed the best among them. The Admission process of NIT DGP was through Josaa and CSAB counselling. The College and the Branch will be alloted to you according to your rank in the JEE MAINS Examination. The Closing rank of this exam in 2025 of General Category for the lowest Branch in BTech is 63387. The overall admission process for the college, apart from hostel allotment, was completely online. 14-15 documents were to be submitted in pdf format in the specific website provided. I was getting all nits of india and also some iits.The only reasons of not choosing them is branch ,i was getting lower branches in all other colleges so i choose this. I think this was the best college onmy rank. I prefer this college because of the ranks amongs the Nits and the best I can get according to my rank is this . This college is not so far from city Center . NIT DURGAPUR - A Detailed Breakdown

I applied for GURU GHASIDAS UNIVERSITY, BILASPUR (a GFTI in chattishgarh) and i got an secured seat in the CSE department too of that college too in my 2nd round of JOSAA councelling but in the CSAB round 1 i got a seat in NIT Durgapur in the Biotechnology department. I was a NEET aspirant but due to scam of NEET 2024 i was unable to get a good rank and secure a good government medical college and i was passionate about biology from my childhood so i chose Biotechnology and obviously an NIT is far more better than any GFTI be it in terms of placement, infrastructure, environment or any other things. I applied for some higher prioritized brances too in my choice filling but due to poor rank i wasn't able to secure a seat there. Students get seats in NIT(s), IIIT(s) and in GFTI (s) through JOSAA (a counselling process of 5 rounds) and CSAB (a counselling process of 2 rounds) and in IIT (s) through JOSAA counselling only. Students secure their desired seats based on their merits with the rank that they obtained in their JEE Mains exams and JEE ADVANCED (for IIT ) although admission is based on ranks but the authority have criterias like you have to score 75% marks in maths ,physics and chemistry in your Boards exams or you should be among top 20 percentile students of your class 12th board exams there is a separate process of admission too for the foreign students and NRI students althogh the fees structure is very high for their courses.The overall counselling process was good and seamless but after allotment of the college, the document verification and fees submission process is a little hectic....Read More
