Remarks

The college management compromises of the board of governors and the dean who are the professors. All the decisions by them are taken by them and are student friendly and justified.

Entrance Preview

I got 19k rank in JEE Mains. I chose this College because I wanted to pursue non-circuital branch and the college has a good reputation in North India and I was in touch with the students of this College and student activities and Placements here are good.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The curriculum is old, but it is industry oriented. Most of the important subjects are taught, and 6 industry visits are covered in it. Courses have labs and tutorial for practical and problem-solving. We have a mandatory 6 months Internship. There is a good number of core courses along with humanities and science courses. All subjects have tutorial and Labs. Practical work is enough through workshops.

Internships Opportunities

Yes, the College provides Internship. Students can get through Placement office where companies come or through the department. Highest Stipend was for GS CSE 80K. The stipend is usually around 20k average. Mechanical 23 students got campus internships, for rest internships were done by the department. Companies like American Express, GS, JP MORGAN, Smart Cube, nestle, McKinsey, core Companies like nestle Alstom Fiat etc come.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee at my time was 50k per semester, however, it has been Revised to 60-70 K nowadays. Pretty much it's not expensive. The hostel is also available at 50k for a year, mess charges separately. The scholarship is also available for reserved category student and branch openers and girl students along with meritorious students in each year.

Fees and Financial Aid

The scholarship is available for meritorious students and separates for girls, branch openers, and economically weaker section. Their fees are around 5k per semester. The alumni association also awards a cash prize to good students.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

The first year has sharing hostel but the new rooms in the Shivalik hostel are awesome. There are 4 boys and 2 girls hostel. Mess food is okay kind of and room are also okay. There are very good WiFi and sports facility available like table tennis, pool, tennis, football, cricket, volleyball, badminton etc. The hostel is for 50k per year and mess charges are separate which is around 1500 per month. Hostels are in close proximity to classes and hostel life is awesome. Wardens are the College professors. There is no ragging.

Exam Structure

Mid sem exams and end sem exams are there. Other than that Quiz occur in random fashion and lab viva two weeks before the exam. Exam dates are announced in the calendar and it's fixed mid-semester. in Feb and October and end semester in May and December 2 semesters per year. The week before exam becomes hectic due to assignment and quizzes.

Admission

Had to apply through JAC Chandigarh, nowdays it is through JOSSA. Got selected in first counseling round. Later documentation was done first at PU then registration at PEC. JAC has been constituted for conducting admission to various B.E./B.Arch./Integrated B.E. (Chemical)-MBA Courses based on JEE(Main) - 2018 All India Rank in following institutions for the session 2018-19 1. University Institute of Engineering and Technology, Panjab University, Chandigarh 2. Dr. S.S. Bhatnagar University Institute of Chemical Engineering and Technology, Panjab University, Chandigarh (Formerly Department of Chemical Engineering & Technology) 3. University Institute of Engineering and Technology, Panjab University SSG Regional Centre, Hoshiarpur 4. Chandigarh College of Engineering and Technology, Sector 26, Chandigarh 5. Chandigarh College of Architecture, Sector 12, Chandigarh

Faculty

4

Most teachers have Ph.D. from IITs and PEC. Teachers have vast experience and industrial exposure. All teachers are at least postgraduates. Most of the teachers are from IITs. All teachers have experience of 10+ years. Teachers use projector and board and also use models to teach. Teachers teach using books or their notes, but they do explain things and rest numerical problems are covered in tutorials. One teacher takes a class of 60-80 students, and a tutorial and lab of 15 students take place. The ratio is good. Industry exposure is made available through expert lectures and industrial tours as a part of the course. Teachers are knowledgeable and helpful and approachable. Every college has a mix of good and bad Teachers

Placement Experience:

Since the first batch of VLSI is yet to be placed I would take example of ECE for reference. Out of 110 students which sat for placements , 91 got placed , median of 13 lakh with avergae of 16 lakh and 61 lakh highest on campus. These are of 24-25 and this year placements are better as even apple visited us after an hiatus of 3 years. In core electronics , Samsung Rnd , TATA electronics , Cadence , Micron etc visited for tech , UKG , PhonePay , Oracle , Accenture etc vist in consulting and finance , Mckinsey , JP Morgan , GoldmanSachs , AmericanExpress visit. After my btech I plan to do a job.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would rate the course plan around 7 out of 10 in terms of relevance and depth. I chose this course mainly because it includes core tech subj like DSA, DBMS, OS, AI and cloud, which are useful for jobs in tech field. The presence of lab work and proj based learning also influenced my choice. The curriculum gives a fair base in theory and basic prac skills. It helps in campus place prep and also builds base for higher study like MTech or MS. But real world skill still depends a lot on self study, online course and side proj. Some topics feel updated, but a few subj are still too theory heavy and not linked to real case use. Exams are held twice as mid test and once as end term in each sem. There are also quiz, viva and lab eval. The level is moderate. If you attend class and revise notes, it is manageable. For improve, more live proj, hack event, ind visit and case study should be added. Teach method should shift more to code demo and less slide read
