Remarks

Overall the college is very good except for the infrastructure, alumni are good and teachers as well, clubs make the college more interactive and college helps students on how to become self-dependent.

Entrance Preview

I prepared for IIT JEE and scored 165 marks in mains with a rank of around 21k, Being a non resident of chandigarh i had an option between mechancial and electrical branch only. Since i was more inclined towards circuital branch i chose electrical engineering. I entered this college in SPOT round, though missed the orientation but faced a little less problems in paper work for the same!

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The curriculum is out dated i would say as I couldn’t understand of what use is chemistry and ed to us. The rest courses are same as they were earlier with no further updation in syllabus. However college do encourages seminars by aluminis and teachers for what currently is in the news related to electrical.

Internships Opportunities

The college do not provide summer internships and all, but in third year we have an option to avail six months internship in other companies and universities. The cdgc centre in our college helps gather companies to provide intership and job to students.

Placement Experience

3

The placement and job opportunities are vast as overall and around 70 percent for electrical students. And average package value is around 6-7 lac per annum. Maximum package of about 17 lacs per annum previous year. Some companies provide pre placement offer for students who interned in their company.

College Events

4

The college celebrates various events, out of which annual fest is of atmost importance, it is headed by fourth year students and helps student perform organising, marketing and publicity while some students perform and win prizes for the same. It is a cultral cum technical fest and is most crucial time for pecobians.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee structure is a bit expensive, As per annum costs around 2 lacs exclusive hostel and mess charges. Though some students are able to pay but isn’t feasible by everyone. However in comparison to other private institutions, the fees is approximately half as compared to them. DASA students have to pay more as the hold NRI quota.

Fees and Financial Aid

There is fee waiver of about 100 percent for a semster when you achieve 10 SGPA and also to sc st quota students, other scholarships for sports quota etc.

Campus Life

3

Campus life is amazing, you get to know differnt friends and cultures and their is no gender based inequality, gender ratio favors male but thats what makes it an engineering college, their are different clubs like SAASC for personal development and IEEE etc for technical studies.

Hostel Facilities

2

Hostel buildings are old and poorly maintained, and needs a lot of improvising, mess food is also not good but bearable and per month charge for the mess is about 2000-3000 while that of hostel per annum cost is 60000. The room provided consist of one single bedroom, one almirah, fan, tube light, table, and chair.

Alumni/Alumna

Yes a lot, seniors provide a better view for the course and othef placement opportunities, annual alumini meets helps us to achieve better results by learning from their mistakes.

Exam Structure

The exam structure of pec is divided among followings, 1. Mid term exam 2. End term exam 3. Quizzes and tests 4. Assignment based tests. 5. Practical exams. The structure is upto the mark but there is no holiday in between two exams, which provide less time for students to prepare and revise.

Admission

The form for admission wad available online via JAC and more or less the procedure was available on net, you have to pay some money before spot and if you are selected for a branch you arranged in your profile, you will get admission there. Then you have to visit the institute, and complete necessary details like filling forms about hostel and other basic easy things.

Faculty

3.5

I won’t say bad but yet they need improvement, some teachers are very good but I don’t know why they are bound to follow the old procedure of teaching. Talking about teachers of an electrical branch, they have the keen knowledge in their respective fields. Hence knowledge provided to students is vast!

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would rate the course plan around 7 out of 10 in terms of relevance and depth. I chose this course mainly because it includes core tech subj like DSA, DBMS, OS, AI and cloud, which are useful for jobs in tech field. The presence of lab work and proj based learning also influenced my choice. The curriculum gives a fair base in theory and basic prac skills. It helps in campus place prep and also builds base for higher study like MTech or MS. But real world skill still depends a lot on self study, online course and side proj. Some topics feel updated, but a few subj are still too theory heavy and not linked to real case use. Exams are held twice as mid test and once as end term in each sem. There are also quiz, viva and lab eval. The level is moderate. If you attend class and revise notes, it is manageable. For improve, more live proj, hack event, ind visit and case study should be added. Teach method should shift more to code demo and less slide read
