National Institute of Technology Raipur

NIT Raipur follows the CBCS scheme, in the first year students are taught about the basic of enigneering that includes the subjects like basic electrical engineering, basic mechanical engineering and engineering drawing. Skill based subjects like Workshop, data structutres is taught and the faculties are highly qualified from the top institutes of the country. The Hod of my department has been named in the list of top 2% scientist across the world by stanford.

NIT Raipur being a government engineering college is fairly affordable. The placement opportunities in the college make provided a higher return on investment. The college provides scholarship to economically weaker students with incomes less than 5 lakh. Various benificial schemes launched by the government are applicable to the students studying in NIT Raipur. The placement opportunities in the college are also good.

The campus life is the only drawback for the students studying in the college. As our college is currently using the building which was initially constructed as GEC Raipur, the campus size is smaller than the other NITs which limits the co-cirriculat activities that take place within the college. However, the college life is fairly happening, there's always a buzz in the college about various fest. Even with limited resources and funds, the students are enthusiastic about the fests. Eklectika, the cultural fest of NIT Raipur is central India's biggest cultural fest, big names like Mohit Chauhan, Darshan Raval and Ritviz have performed in Eklectika. Samar, the sports fest is an experience in itself, the techfest brings all students from all over India to witness the brilliant minds of students from the college.

The admission process involves the Jossa and Csab counselling. The scores of JEE Mains is taken into account for the counselling process and the seat is alloted on its basis. The candidates must physically report in the institute after the CSAB process is concluded and the document verification and course registration for the first semester is carried out. I believe that some part of the process can be carried out online so that students from other states do not need to come to the weeks prior to their admission.
