Entrance Preview

I got a seat in KVGCE through CET. I had an 85.6 percentile in Pre-University under Karnataka Board. I messed up in my CET with a rank of 60,432. But luckily I got a seat in this college. I opted for it after taking a look at the website as well as visiting the college. This was after I had got the seat.

Course Curriculum Overview

2

The course curriculum is as prescribed by VTU as the college is affiliated to VTU. The course content is not really up to the mark. This is because there is a huge gap between the technology used in IT industries and what we learn. The problem is that pretty much all the subjects do not have enough practica application andl development knowledge. Even the labs are pretty outdated in their curriculum. Not a lot of resources for research.

Internships Opportunities

No form or internship is provided by the college. They do refer you to other internship offering companies though.

College Events

1.5

The college maintains an annual technical fest called Tantrajna. We also have an annual day, one cultural fest and then a lot of branch festivities.the cultural fest is interested branch and is the only time there is any excitement in the college. Karnataka Rajyotsava is another celebration observed here.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is affordable. Under CET it's 48,000 and an additional 12,000. SNQ quota people have to pay just about 3000. This is apart from the hostel fees. The college does charge a lot of fines and request payment for different reasons. This does give the college a bad reputation among those attending.

Fees and Financial Aid

The scholarship facilities are only available through standard options offered by the Government. There are no additional scholarships as such.

Campus Life

3

The gender ratio is about 50:50 Parties are not encouraged here. Extracurricular activities like fests, sports day and inter branch sports activities are conducted. The most excitement in terms of sports follows an all night cricket match between every section. There is a robotics club. Debates are a joke as the college has their own set of views and they do not give opportunities for people to represent their ideologies in any way.The area isn't very tolerant towards religious minorities.

Hostel Facilities

3

The hostel facilities are mediocre to say at the least. The best part is 24 hour power supply. There is no WiFi options in hostel. The food is pretty good. Non Veg and Veg options are both pretty good. A lot of hotels and messes are around the college so there are a lot of different options to choose from.

Alumni/Alumna

The college was once among the best colleges in Karnataka. Because of this, the college has a good network of alumni working in international companies.

Exam Structure

The exam structure is once again as prescribed by VTU due to it's affiliation. All theory subjects are evaluated out of 100 along with 25 marks of Internal assessment. The labs are evaluated out of 50 along with 25 marks of Internal assessment. The exams are pretty hectic sometimes but not always.

Admission

I had to visit the college with my KCET ranking proof, a couple of photos, my CET hall ticket, SSLC marks card, PU marks card etc. The admission procedure was pretty standard, I had to meet the principal and fill in my information in some forms. After this, the college gave me a proforma in which I had to fill in my details once again. It was a very simple admission procedure. They gave me the data of reopening after that.

Faculty

2

The faculty is pretty good for the most part. The college does boast of about the handful of PhD qualified lecturers. There are quite a few mediocre lecturers who seem to be lacking passion in teaching. Lecturers are not always friendly and are often easily irritable.

From your 7th semester you become eligible to get placed and it is mandatory to get internship before you get placed which the college helps you to get and around 400-500 companies visit, and a good amount of offers are made by them. The average package stands somewhere around 11LPA -12LPA and the highest goes to 50LPA-60LPA and the median stands around 9-10LPA.

Course Curriculum Overview:

As I'm in 1st semester. I will update you after my exams. But one good thing is that from this year, internals and externals will hold same weightage i.e., 50/50 If you can score more than 45% in internals which wouldn't be that big of a deal because they'll ask most the questions from class notes. Most of the faculties are average I would say. But some are good professors too. I chose CSE because I find these topics interesting since junior school. And everyone is just jumping into cse is a reason too lol.
