Course Curriculum Overview
I have a commerce background, so that's why I have chosen this course. Bcom hons is the most opted course for commerce students as it stands the base for their future ideas. It's a very good course and gives you a lot of knowledge regarding the business and corporate world. There must be practical teaching and theory teachers in hand to hand because nowadays it's very important for students to get practical knowledge as well and the course curriculum must be modern. All the changes that have been done by the law related to commerce and business must be included in the syllabus. Cuet entrance exam was moderate. You just need to go through the topics of your 12th and make your base strong. If you're done with these things, then you'll surely score well and cuet was not at all lengthy. It included MCQ-based questions only and you'll complete your paper in time if standard time per question is set up and followed by you.
Fees and Financial Aid
Our total fees are 10,322, which is okay if compared with other colleges. And as I'm in the first year I'm not sure about fee hikes and all. If pay 7000 rupees for my PG and around 1500 for my travelling expenses. By including all other costs, the total expenses are about 10000 per month excluding college fees. And yearly it costs me around 1,30,000. There are some schemes available for underprivileged students whose family income is less than 3 lakhs. Our campus is just okayish type and there are not very many opportunities to be taken. But overall it's quite better as it is a government college.
Campus Life
There is an annual fest called 'Youth Fest' in our college and then the selected students perform in BHU's fest called 'SPANDAN'. It is held in the month of March - April. The library facility is good and you can get many books and novels there. The technological facility is super good. There is a commerce lab, and an economics lab and everything related to technology is quite good. There are many opportunities for the boys in games such as cricket, football and volleyball. There is inter-college competition also. There is a student portal on the official website of the BHU and it contains all the information of the student and his/her marks, grades and performance. There is NSS as a social group.
Admission
I am pursuing Bcom hons from DAV PG College, Varanasi which is affiliated to the Banaras Hindu University. I scored 473/650 on my cuet entrance exam and got into this college, which was my second preference. I belong to the general category. If we talk about the admission process of BHU, it is quite lengthy. It took many months for the University to complete its admission process. BHU must work on its official portal and must improve its management system. If anyone wants to pursue bcom hons from DAV PG College, then it's a good decision. Teachers here are very supportive. To get admission you must give cuet exam and score the marks as per the cutoffs set up by the University. For Bcom hons BHU takes GT, Accountancy and Business Studies marks.
