- Campus placements are a big plus point of VIT
- The infrastructure here and the campus in general is really great
- Faculty and seniors are also very helpful
Dislikes
- VIT is located in the outskirts of Vellore, so there's not a lot of place to go out here
- Mostly the fees here is affordable, but it might get steep for students in category 4 and 5
- VIT has a little bit too many restrictions, so sometimes that can be an adverse factor
Course Curriculum Overview
In electronics and communication engineering, the course curriculum is upto date with UGC guidelines. The course is at par with any other top college of India. Most teachers are very good and helpful. Although it might seem that language barrier can be an issue, especially for North Indian students, it is not so(in most of the cases)
Internships Opportunities
VIT offers great internships with stipends from many top companies like Microsoft, Amazon, Adobe, etc. Internships usually are offered to 3rd year students. Apart from external companies, startups under VIT Incubation also offer internships with stipends startimg from 5k to 50k a month
Placement Experience
Placements start from the beginning of the 4th year. Last year average Cs placements was 9 LPA, which is a great number considering the huge number of students who sit for campus placements. Teh average placement for the entire college was roughly 7 LPA.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fees is based on category. Category 1 - 2 lacs a year Category 2 - 3 lacs a year Category 3 - 3.5 lacs a year Category 4 - 4 lacs a year and so on till category 5. Scholarships are also available for top rankers in VITEEE, state toppers of board exams and students having a family income of less than 1 lc per annum.
Campus Life
Campus Life is great. The campus is huge. Some may feel the rules to be a little too tough, but mostly there's no problem. Clubs and chapters are also very active with events going on all round the year. The main fests here are Riviera - the cultural fest, Gravitas - technical fest and Yantra
Hostel Facilities
Rooms are of decent size. Per student one cupboard, shelf, table, chair and bed is provided. Mess food is also quite decent, better than most other colleges. Registration process starts once the ranks have been declared. Registration can also be done once you've come to the campus.
Admission
VIT has an entrance exam called VITEEE. You need to qualify VITEEE to enter into VIT. The application form, fees and dates are available on the VIT official website. There is no reservation in this college.There is one exam held every year usually in the month of May or June. The exam is of moderate level, i.e. ncert will mostly cover everything for physics and chemistry. Maths of a certain higher level is required.
