I am pursuing B.Sc. Honors in Zoology and my course is a 4 year course (Research work included in the 4th year ) that is a total of 8 Semesters. And it's strictly follows the curriculum provided by the Calcutta University under CCF which consists of Theory, Practical and Live Field Work and Research.

Internships Opportunities

I haven't yet got any Internship related information from the College's side but yet I have heard that they provide Insternship experiences at a quite good level and is conducted by many well know companies and local enterprises.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee structure is quite decent and affordable including Admission, Library, Practical and Exam charges. I have paid around Rs.8280/- for admission and Rs.820/- for Exams till date. Scholarship facilities like SVCM,KANYASHREE etc. are available and supported by the College.

Campus Life

Th college celebrates every type of festival according to the calendar. Beside that weekly seminars events are conducted by all the departments, individually. Cultural events are quite regular giving students the experience of a joyful college life. There are 3 libraries - Main Library, Seminar Library and Reading Library that consists of a vast variety of books on every fiction and of every subject. The Library books are also accessible through the Library's Website taht is provided to the students. Classroom environment is quite classic yet teaching is done through latest technology facilities that include live presentations and many more. Sports are available for every aspect including both indoor and outdoor sports, and the college conducts sports events - Annual Sports, Cricket Tournaments, Football tournaments etc. The college provides extracurricular student-run groups like - NSS,NCC and the Student Union.

Admission

I am currently pursuing B.Sc. Honors in Zoology at Asutosh College. The admission process is quite decent here and is done on the basis of accurate and verified marks scored in 10th and 12th Board Exams. The Application Form, Fees structure, Application notice, Criterias and all other informations that you need to know is available at the College's official Website. Admissions are strictly given on Merit Bases. There are lot of Reservation Benefits provided by the College during Admission. One can persue BA/B.Sc.and many other courses at this College as they provide a transparent selection criteria foster a fair and merit-based admission system, welcoming students from diverse backgrounds. Overall, Asutosh College sets a commendable standard for admission processes, prioritizing accessibility and excellence in education.

Scottish Church College: A Journey Worth Remembering

Likes

Fixed timetable Classes, regular assessment and class test
The professors are very qualified and their teaching style is excellent.
A lot of books are available in the main library as well as in the department library

Course Curriculum Overview:

The syllabus and curriculum of Calcutta University is aligned with other entrance examination (eg.IIT JAM, JEST, TIFR, GATE etc.) Specially for the Physics BSc course. And the syllabus is updated Artificial intelligence bacis, Python Advance level is in syllabus, it's completed in college. Point to be Noted - The time given to prepare for the exam is sometimes ample but sometimes it is very less. So we have to prepare syllabus in time which is little bit frustrating.

Likes

Campus is nice. There's greenery and all
SOME of the faculties are really good and those said teachers will actually look out for you and care
Mentors are appointed for each students who are responsible for their final year project, publications and LORs. If you are lucky, you'll get a good mentor.

Dislikes

Classrooms are less compared to the number of students. Students have to wander around the building after each classes to find seats. Classrooms are very dirty
There's literally NOTHING in the labs. Experiments take way long to prepare and perform because reagents and equipments are never available.
Hardly a 2 week summer break (because of MAKAUT). Students cannot even apply to good internships because no lab would take in external students in july or august.

Placement Experience:

People who major in my department usually opt for masters over placement not because of this college but because overall industrial or academic opportunities are better with a pg degree. Masters from this college is not recommended as i have heard so from my seniors. Some of my seniors managed to crack competitives and secure MSc seats at great places. Training and Placement cell had a good coordinator previously but now its almost non existent. Companies do come and hire Bpharm, Mpharm and MSc candidates. Packages are below average. Only Nestle pays well. But if you do well you'll eventually climb up the corportate ladder. From the time i am here i have not heard of any BSc candidate getting placed. Most go for higher studies.

Likes

The faculty members are knowledgeable and supportive. Most teachers explain concepts clearly and are approachable after class for doubts and guidance, which helps a lot during exams.
The college has a disciplined academic environment with regular classes and practical sessions. Laboratories are functional and help students understand concepts through hands-on learning.
The campus environment is calm and student-friendly. Various seminars, cultural programs, and academic activities help in overall personality development.

Dislikes

Industry exposure and internship guidance are minimal, which could be improved to make students more job-ready after graduation.
Infrastructure can be improved, especially classrooms and laboratory equipment. Some facilities feel outdated and require modernization.
Placement opportunities for BSc students are limited. The college focuses more on academics, so students need to prepare for higher studies or competitive exams on their own.

Placement Experience:

The average package offered for such roles ranges between ?2–3 LPA, while the highest package offered to a BSc student is around ?4 LPA, depending on skills and specialization. Overall, around 15–20% of BSc students get placed through campus drives, and many students rely on off-campus opportunities.

Likes

I like the campus , it is quite huge and green , the canteen has both cooked and packed food available, a seperate common room for students and many sports equipment available. Several functions are arranged along with international conferences held
All the faculty members are soft spoken , knowledgeable and friendly, it is easy to find help regarding anything.
Professors are strict about their syllabus and subjects , paying proper attention to the students. Practicals classes are conducted without fail.

Dislikes

There is nothing as such that I disliked because I am a first year student so I haven't been so much involved yet , I think that the washrooms should be cleaned properly to maintain the hygiene apart from thjs everything is fine.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Subjects offered in the college as well as the minor and idc subjects are well adhered to the curriculum and future aspects. The subject combinations are apt and futuristic. It moderately prepares one for real world situations.

Placement Experience:

Placement is provided in final year . Average package offered is 3 to 4 lpa . Paid internship is provided in 3rd year and the placement percentage is more or less ok. After complication i will either pursue Msc or look for a job.

Reasons to not apply for NSHM Knowledge Campus

Likes

The admission process was very smooth, the administration board is very helpful.
The library is huge and the content of books is very good
College life and fests are good but not great

Dislikes

Placements are absolutely bogus. There were almost no good placements when i passed out part of it can be blamed on covid but mostly the college was largely at fault
Faculty was not upto the mark in regards to the hefty college fees we were charged
Even during covid online classes we were charged full fee which is again absolutely horrendous

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum was well thought out as per me but there were subjects that i found absolutely unnecessary. Subjects like history evs and clc were in no way related to my course. Coming to the main subjects Design, Printing, Photography and film and Media Training were absolutely necessary for my course and whilst the faculty for some of these subjects were really bad, some were good. It is also important to mention none of these subjects actually helped us prepare for the real world. Instead internships and freelance helped us more than these subjects could ever do. Exams were held bi monthly to keep track of what we learnt and every 6 months we had our semester exams. Overall if you want to be a media professional INTERNSHIPS AND JOBS WILL HELP YOU MORE THAN A COLLEGE WILL. I am biased on this opinion as my college didnt provide me with the correct guidance and support i needed to make it in the real world.

Likes

Faculty is really good and helping they do help !
Labs are taken on time and is made clear to us very well
Teacher are very good and friendly for us

Dislikes

I disliked the fact that the rooms get too hot during sumer
There should have been one ac that could have turned on in classes during hot , except smart class room and auditorium
Nothing as much , some little stuffs that are everywhere nowadays in college

Exams are generally spaced well throughout the smemstwr allowing adequate time for preperation , how ever the frequenxy can sometimes be overwhelming particulary during peak study periods , but the diffulty level isnt that concerning and they are easy

Non-Teaching faculties are very bad . they don't work good.

1st year+ Registration Fees-6780 2nd , 3rd , 4th Year Fees- 3000/year Tution fees and all others fees are included in above fees. There is no scholarship from university but there is a wb state govt provided SVMCM scholarship. The Campus is fully green

Likes

Examination Questions And Syllabus are good.
Faculties and Facilities are good enough.
College and evaluation system is good enough.

Dislikes

Timings of examinations per semester is reduced.
Examination centres are given far away from college.
Fees is little bit Higher for many poor students.

Placement Experience:

In case of computer science department, placement is provided at the Last year of M.sc course. Many companies like Wipro, b10x, Tata visited here. Highest package ever is three lakh per annum. 20-40% of the students got placement after completing M.Sc computer science. My plan after B.sc is to pursue MCA.

A memorable time to remember

I have applied for Dinabandhu Andrews College and also New Alipore College for mathematics hons and I got selected for both the colleges and I started class in Dinabandhu Andrews College for few days but there the faculty used to talk in Bengali and the faculty members are not really good also the ambience so I applied in Asutosh College and I got selected too over there....so I shifted to Asutosh College, as I always wanted to persue this course from Asutosh College due to there faculty in this subject is really very good. Life at Asutosh Mookherjee college as a freshman

Besides getting selection in St Xavier's college and MUC college in Burdwan. I also got selected for Lady Braboune, South Calcutta girls college and many other. I didn't opt for any of there because maximum of my criteria were fulfilled in Asutosh Mookherjee college. I didn't make it to Xavier's College Kolkata due to some financial problem and in Jadavpur University, I couldn't clear the admission test. This is the best college under University of Calcutta from very old times, Specially the science department of asutosh college really excellent, The college came under TOP BEST 4 colleges of west Bengal. NAAC accredicated A grade college. The Microbio department really excellent of this college comparing others institutes.
