TSEC Mumbai, BE, Biomedical Engineering
Reviewed on Dec 7, 2018

Remarks

The college functions very smoothly and it is one of the best experience a student can get in his/her college life.

Entrance Preview

This college is very old and renowned for engineering in Mumbai. The quality of teachers and the management is amazing. Located in Bandra makes it very convenient for traveling which makes students from all over Mumbai and Navi-Mumbai opt for this college.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

Biomedical Engineering demands a passion for electrical as well as machine learning. There are almost all machines in the college that required to be studied practically. So the practical sessions are always full of learning. The weekly basis of submissions of the journal is done so that it gets timely evaluated.

Internships Opportunities

Yes, my college provides internships in hospitals and companies. Although there is no stipend given. The dates are coordinated by college and the company itself. It gives us a very good opportunity to learn in a cooperate world.

Placement Experience

5

TSEC has 100% placements for CS and IT. It is thus preferred by many IT aspirants. The CTC starts from 3.5L and extends up to 14L per annum. Around 40 companies recruit students from thadomal Shahani. The date of interviews is coordinated by TPO. It makes easy for students as they don’t have to apply it by themselves.

College Events

5

TSEC is popular for various college events throughout the year. There are 18 committees to conduct events and there are about 30 events per year. There are technical as well as cultural events. The management and the teachers are very coordinative in planning to put up events.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee structure of Thadomal Shahani is almost like all the other engineering colleges in Mumbai. Its approx 1.4L per year. There are concessions for other caste and outstanding students. There are also facilities to pay in parts if a student is unable to pay all at once.

Fees and Financial Aid

As previously mentioned, TSEC gives the discount in fees to students who are from pooper family background and also to the students who have outstanding performances.

Campus Life

4.5

Although TSEC has limited space, it never fails to excite for events and competitions taking place in the campus. There is no such thing as gender inequality. Admissions are given purely on the basis of merit. The labs are well maintained and make sure that students feel comfortable in the labs.

Hostel Facilities

4

TSEC has no hostel facilities. But teachers do help students in finding a proper place to stay for students coming from outside of Mumbai. The canteen of tsec is small yet provides a variety of food. It also has a thali system for students who stay in a hostel and have lunch in college. The service is quick and the quality is good.

Alumni/Alumna

Seniors are the saviors in this college. They are very very helpful. They provide us with notes and books. They help us with project work too. There are many alumni of TSEC who have their own startup running. Teachers take us there for yearly visits.

Exam Structure

TSEC has 2 periodic tests and one final term test every semester. The periodic test is scheduled by the department whereas the term test is scheduled by Mumbai University. Supervision is strict and anyone found doing any mischief is immediately debarred from giving that paper. Sometimes teachers take a surprise quiz during lecture slots.

Admission

After giving JEE a procedure called CAP rounds happen under Mumbai University. Students need to fill forms online and select the desired colleges in order of preference. Thadomal Shahani was on my 1st preference row. My name got to listen in the merit list of this college in the first CAP round. After that, I just had to go to college and confirm my admission by filling out a form full of details and submitting my mark sheet. Demand draft (fees) was also given on the same day.

Faculty

4.5

The faculty including the teachers and staff are really co-operative. Most Teachers in TSEC are IIT professionals. They have vast knowledge. They never hesitate to solve our doubt or help us in learning something new. The timings of the teachers are particularly strict. The staff is also available all the time when needed. They are humble and allows us to stay over-time if regarding any project work.

Placement Experience:

Placements at ADYPU are moderate and structred . Students usually become eligilble from the final year for campus drives. Various startups and mid level comapnies visit for roles in sales, marketing, operatioons and tech support . The highest pacakage generally ranges arounf 45-50LPA , while the average package is around 4.5-6 LPA , depending on the profile . A fair percentage of active students secure placements. After completing my degree, i plan to focus on skill development and pursue better career op;portunities.

Placement Experience:

placements in GHRCE are pretty good for CS/IT branches. Students become eligible from 7th semester, but companies starts giving training sessions from 6th sem itself. Many known companies visits like Tcs, Wipro, Capgemini, cognizant, Infosis etc The highest package goes around 20-22 LPA while the average package is around 5-6 LPA. Almost 70-80% students from CS/IT get placed. My plans after getting the degree is to get a stable job and then do masters.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course out of sheer curiosity and intrest in the field of Artificial Intelligence . The course offered by the college encapsulates all the major subtopics included in the field. Theoretically the curriculum offers great knowledge about various topics from your course however you yourself have to figure out how do you build your practical skills which you can use in the real world. teaching methods can be improvised by implementing a more practical learning based approach rather than relying on the theoretical part of the subject. there are 2exams per semester, one small exam called as mid semester exams and the other one is the major exam called as final semester exam. difficulty of exam is usually easy to moderate and one can easily pass the exam even if he/she does not study regularly.
