Remarks

If you have a passion for the sea, if you have the self-confidence of grabbing campus placements and hustle, then T. S CHANAKYA is for you.

Entrance Preview

I wanted to join the merchant navy since my teenage as I grew up watching my maternal uncle who is now a master mariner(captain) in the SHIPPING CORPORATION OF INDIA, and his lifestyle, personality, attitude etc stood as motivation for me to join the merchant navy. I had a love for the seas and wanted to join as a deck officer so I consulted my uncle and more and none better TS CHANAKYA would stand as an option for me.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

I am currently pursuing BSC in NAUTICAL SCIENCES, it is a 3-year degree course, it is a professional course and one could apply for placements directly onto sea-going ships after completing the course. Campus selections also take place before passing out. This course basically familiarises students to merchant ships, their navigation, all parts and much more.

Internships Opportunities

No, there are no internships here or anywhere in this course. There are ship visits, port visits, dockyard visits etc conducted at regular intervals.

Placement Experience

Campus Life

3.5

Truly speaking, campus life here is excellent, lush green campus with different sports courts very good mess food etc. Gender ratio or sex ratio is very low, the average of 4-5 girl cadets take admission here with around 150 boy cadets as not much girls opt for the harsh life at sea.

Hostel Facilities

4

Hostel rooms are quite spacious and airy, with a good planned built. They are designed to accommodate 3 cadets in one room with 3 separate cupboards, lockers, fans and light. The environment here is excellent for the stay, study, play etc. Mess food is very satisfying and nutritious, each day there is a change in the menu. Breakfast, morning tea, lunch, evening snacks, dinner and study coffee are provided from morning to night respectively.

Alumni/Alumna

This institute has some of the famous personalities as alumni. IAS Ravindra Kumar is a serving Ias officer to the government of India, he passed out from here in1998. Several other famous faces in the Maritime industry are Chanakyans, serving high managerial posts in various shipping companies, and many more.

Admission

I cleared the IMU-CET(INDIAN MARITIME UNIVERSITY - COMMON ENTRANCE TEST) exam in the year 2017 with an AIR-1355. I filled the counseling form online and got TS CHANAKYA INDIAN MARITIME UNIVERSITY NAVI MUMBAI CAMPUS in the second list. After getting a seat, I went for a medical test and got admitted.

Faculty

3.5

All faculties here are highly qualified and selected on a competitive basis. There are basically two types of faculties here, permanent faculties or nautical officers and visiting faculties for each subject. Most of the faculties are master mariners and have a depth knowledge and grip about their subjects.

Course Curriculum Overview:

like i was sure that i want a course that will give me experince about AIML with subjects like 3D design + Coding + Envoirmental studeis and all. and the course from the sandip actually have all these subjects in a single course thats why i choose this course. curriculam was good it was updated on time. the course helps me to land a internship with goverment cause i learn the basics of AI from this course. the ares of improvements should be the faculty members like they are horrible sometimes they dont even make the notes for the subjects they ask students to make notes and shared with other students. even one of the faculty member shared a playlist form youtube for a specific subject and ask us to take notes from it and prepare for exam not a single leccture he takes at that time. the frequency of the exam is also not that good cause the want us to prepare for the final semster exam which is of 6 months in just 3 months with all the paper works , projects , assignments etc etc.

Not sure but I've heard a bit that students are eligible for campus placement since the 5th or 6th semester. If one has enough skills, then they'll be able to get a job of a huge package even while being a fresher. The college offers placements but you'll only get placed if you prove yourself to be better than everyone else in the room.

The placments for Bachlor's were not that great. They are more in the favour of Commerce applicants. The maximum package during my time was 400000 which is really less than the market. Also, the placments and the roles are really average.

Placement Experience:

My college gives campus placement placement opportunities typically after 4th semester, which is the 2nd half of the 2nd year. As my college has a partnership with IBM so the standards of campus placement go right up as the placement depends on the curriculum performance of the student so can't really say much for this. If saying as a stalemate, getting a placement is basically confirmed if the student maintains his/her CGPA of 6-7, which shows the consistent of the student in their field.
