Review of VSSUT - The Oldest Technical University of Odisha

I have choosen the computer science and engineering course as it was in high demand. In the first year, all branch students are tough some common subjects. From second year onwards the subjects are branch specific. Although the curriculum is well designed but the syllabus needs to be updated. The exams are conducted 2 times each semester one mid term semester and one final semester.

The college sends students for internship in various companies as well as government organisations like ITR DRDO, ISRO, SAIL, HAL etc. Students go for internship 2 times in every academic year, one during winter in the month of December for 1 month, and Another in summer during May and June for w months. The internship can be free or paid

From seventh semester onwards the students become eligible for campus placements. This year as recession is going on less company visited the campus and the number of students hired was also less than previous years. Some of the big companies like Tata power, Maruti Suzuki, Deloitte and Cognizant and many startups also visited the campus. About 70% students got placed. I'm placed in an on-campus drive in Cognizant and also off campus in TCS.

The college fee is taken in each semester. For the odd semester the fee is around 35000 and for even semester it is 45000. Similarly the hostel fee per semester is 17500. I have applied for state scholarship in which I used to receive about 50000 per year

There are many events conducted through out the year. In winter the annual sports event Illumina is conducted for 3-4 days after that the technical cum culture fest called Samavesh x Vassaunt is conducted which is conducted for about 3days. The college has a huge central Library. All the classrooms have digital monitors. Also different technical and other clubs are there.

Hostel facility is available for all the students in the college both boys and girls. The rooms are medium sized for 4 people. The food quality of different hostels are different. Some have its own kitchen facilities and some hostels outsource their food. The food quality is below avert. The hostel fees is 17500rupees per semester, which I think is a bit higher than the facilities provided.

I got admission to this college though the JEE mains exam. As that time the COVID 19 phase was going on and there was lockdown so the selection and admission process was delayed. And I got admission in December 2020.

The faculty members are very intelligent and highly qualified, all of them hold a PhD degree. They help students in studies as well as other activities. Although there are few vecancy for permanent facilities, some guest faculty fulfills that need.
