What Students Say

Likes

They train students by conducting periodic tests.
Good environment and clean place. Good lab facilities.
They try to focus on sports recently. It is one of the good thing.

Dislikes

Faculties are not good enough and they are not updated.
Dress code for both boys and girls. So there is no independence in wearing dress.
Placements are also not good enough. If I selected in one company whether I like or not I am not allowed to attend other campus interview.

My dream is to become a mechanical engineer. That's why I chose this course. There are lot of things to learn which we can implement in practical world. However, instead of conducting theory exams, conducting more practical exams will be beneficial for students. They learn easily by doing all things practically.

Placement Experience

After 6th semester, students are eligible to attend campus interviews. There are plenty of colleges visited in our college. However, I am allowed to attend only 2 companies, which is ZOHO & Caparo. Out of 2 companies I got selected in Caparo. Highest package is 400000 and lowest one is 162000. Almost 95% of people got placed. I wish to become a design engineer.

Fees and Financial Aid

Tution fees is 70000 per year. If you are first graduate, 20000 discount per year. So you can pay only 50000. I paid only 50000 per year because I'm First graduate in my family. Moreover lab fees in nearly 2000 per year and development fees is around 1000 per year. If you are SC/ST you can get scholarship of nearly 40000 per year. Other caste people get 8000 per year. Management category people paid nearly 100000 per year.

Campus Life

In our college, they conduct culturals,farewal parties & placement day functions. We can find some of the good books in our library even we can study our academic courses with library books. Good benches & projectors avilable in class rooms. Games like cricket, football and other games offered in campus.

Admission

I applied for thanthai periyar, Gtech, global, Abdul hakkem & Kingston college in Vellore. Due to my family financial situation I'm unable to move from my native city. Because of hostel fees and other accomodation. I wish to study in thanthai periyar government college due to low fees structure. However, during anna university counseling I couldn't get a mechanical course in thanthai periyar. So I chose Kingston which is comparatively better than other colleges in Vellore.

Faculty

Most of the facilities are friendly one, especially vinothraj. He supports me and encourage me at any circumstances. Each semester they conduct 6 tests, 1 model exam and 1 revision exam before go to the main semester exam. Mostly 60 to 70% students passed in semester exams.

The college provides a friendly and supportive learning environment.
Most faculty members are approachable and helpful, especially when students need academic guidance

Here there is no gender separation like boys and girls should be seperate and stuff like that.
It is a autonomous college so courses are changing regularly with the shift in education
Here we have relative grading system therefore there is no ranking and easy to get good grades

Dislikes

We have to pay yearly fees not semester wise it difficult for low income earning families
Money is collected from students for all events happening in the college.
There is a rush for collection of fees at the start of each year and unpaid students might face absent issues

Placement Experience:

Campus placements are moderate but i don't know much about other courses but for civil engineering the average placed ctc is 3 lakh per annum one or two students got higer package but most of the students got lower package as a fresher.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The specific aspect which is great future on IT Field of the curriculum that influenced my decision to choose the course. The curriculum prepared me to solve tough real-world logical aptitude test and coding test. The course curriculum is only based on the theory in several areas.My suggestion is to improve that too in practical manner for better real-world understanding. The frequency and the timing of my exams along with my perspective on the difficulty level is 2hrs.

Find your right path from someone's journey experience

I had applied to three colleges in Vellore the first preference is VIT Vellore institute of technology, and the next Thanthai Periyar Government College Of Engineering and lastly Kingston Engineering College which is nearer to my home. I am not able to join VIT because the course fees are too high for 4 years nearly 3.5 lakhs per year which is not affordable to my parents, And the reason the next college is seats are filled for BE Electronics and communication engineering which I preferred. so finally I joined Kingston engineering college. I availed OBC quota for my admission to Kingston Engineering College. The Admission criteria for B.E ECE is one must complete HSC or 12 the grade in any state of India with a minimum of 65% in Maths, Physics, Chemistry and age should be above 18 years.
