Course Curriculum Overview

4

I enjoyed studying sociology in my 11th and 12th class. That made me opt for sociology and the course is quite interesting (depends upon how it is taught) . I found it very relatable with the society, some thinkers are difficult to understand but not so difficult. The students should be more engaged in field work, as they'll be able to relate more. The frequency and timing of exam is perfect.

Fees and Financial Aid

Yearly fees for the course BA Hons. Sociology is 20670. It includes all the compulsory charges. The examination fees is approx 1210 depending on the practical and theoretical subject on has opted for. The hostel fees is around 90000 for a semester.

Campus Life

3.5

The name of annual fest is 'Shruti' . It is held in March or April. The college doesn't raise much fund for the department fest and also for college fest. Projectors are provided in most of the classrooms for PPT or documentary screenings. Students have accessibility of books and journals in the library, e-resources are provided in the library and It has wife range of books. The college doesn't pay much attention to sports and some societies like izhar 'poetry' was recently dissolved.

Admission

I applied for Miranda , Bharti college, Hindu college (Sociology Hons.), Dayal Singh, DRC , KMC, Gargi college (Political science Hons.). I was assigned indraprastha college for women according to my cuet score (also it was my priority). The cut offs for the Year 2024 for sociology Hons in IPCW was 720.

Faculty

2

I didn't find the recently recruited faculty very cooperative with students. Some teachers are cooperative but the college is way more strict with students. They are not allowed to put their ideas. About exams, they are conducting smoothly but College is strict about attendance.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The BA English Honours curriculum at DU SOL is relevant and provides a strong foundation in literature and language. The course covers diverse topics that support academic learning and critical thinking. The flexible structure is suitable for distance-learning students. Adding more practical activities, updated study materials, and interactive learning opportunities could further improve the overall course experience.

As a future law student philosophy was one of the options which was good to opt. Secondly, comparatively less people opt it and it can be one of the better choices if you are preparing for upsc and taking it as an optional. Teaching can be made more interactive as the topics are really interesting

Remarks:

Positive : the faculties are good and I could say our college is the meeting place of various cultures ranging from Kerala to jammukashmir Negative: the infrastructure is poor. Labs and libraries are not so good. And there are stray dogs who often steps into classes and make us afraid. College is not fully air conditioned but is on processing.
