Likes
- The college building is pretty good. The campus is always decorated with beautiful plants. Bathrooms are clean.
- Mata Kaur sahib auditorium is pretty huge and a decent amount of students can sit there. The faculty is good and softspoken. Teachers try to help every student in whatever way possible (except a few)
- Various events and fests are being organized. The college is pretty active in cultural activities.
Dislikes
- The fee is very high as compared to other du colleges. According to the fees, the campus is very small. Unlike other du colleges, there is no proper ground
- Very less chances of getting a placement.
- Class strength is always low. Student's don't attend classes.
Course Curriculum Overview
In my opinion, it's better to pursue a bcom programme degree from distance learning and focus more on some other professional courses. Besides, you can do certificate courses and improve your skills rather than going to a regular college. B.com is a stepping stone, if you're looking for a future in commerce. You can pursue MBA/M.com after that and it opens the door for many future opportunities. The exams were on moderate level. Even if you'll study one month before the examinations , you can easily clear them.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee is pretty high as compared to any du college (even the top ones). The fee for first two years was ?18880 per year (approx) and it suddenly increased to ?22000 for the third year. The examination fee ranges from 510-710 per semester according to the subjects selected. I don't know much about scholarships or financial aids cause I've not received any.
Campus Life
The annual cultural fest - "Saarang" is organized every year during the month of February - March. The campus is small , so it is an average fest. They call a famous Punjabi artist on the second day of the fest. Besides, saraang , there are many college society fests organized like Comvictus, Polifest etc. They are good too. The students try their level best to make every event a success. Smartboards with projectors are there in the classrooms but are not utilised. There are sports societies too. Interested students can join.
Admission
It was the COVID time, so there was no entrance exam. Students were getting admission on the basis of their 12th percentage. The cut-offs were pretty high. In my college, there were reserved seats for sikh minorities. They got in with low cut offs. The admission process was quite simple. You just had to fill in all the details and along with your scanned documents, pay the fee.
Faculty
You can approach the teacher's only when they're in the class. They'll come ,teach and go. Sometimes, even if they're taking a leave, they'll inform you just before the class, which causes trouble to students coming from faraway places. Teachers, mostly provide mentorship to students of societies where teacher herself is associated.
