Remarks

It is definitely not so positive for me. Not even according to academic quality. Extreme amount of money they take for no reason. If you are from a middle class family try to pick another affordable college .

Course Curriculum Overview

2

Course is dependent on the University that the college functions under. As the college is under Calcutta University the course curriculum occurs as per the University. It is 1+1+1 system which means the 3year course is separated into 3 yearly semesters(1st year,2nd year,3rd year). Each year there will be one test examination taken by the college in the mid the academic year to test the students aptitude. If one doesn't get a pass mark(or the mark decided by the college) then he/she won't be allowed to sit for the final exam(University exam). 3 year course topics are related to each other. So if one doesn't do well in the 1st year then it's gonna be tough in the coming years. Final result would be the cumulative score of each 3 years result. Also here is a factor of Honours and General. If someone gets a Honours degree at the end of the 3 year course then he/she would be honours graduate and if someone gets a general degree at the end of the 3 year course then he/she would be just graduate. In our college there's no chance of general students. Either you are honours graduate or you are fail. To maintain that honours you get to score at least 40%(which is difficult) in every year. Attendence is an important thing. 75% minimum attendence is essential to appear at the exams. So try to attend college regularly.

Placement Experience

0.5

This college doesn't provide any kind of internship or job opportunity (at least in my department & in my time). They only provide you your course and the rest is up to you. But you definitely can consult teachers for your career. They surely help you.

College Events

1.5

This college provides many events. If you can adhere them it can benefit you. In my department there's an excursion happen in the 2nd year(according to me which is of no use) what you have to attend. They often organize many important lectures on very important topics which you should attend. And like other colleges they have socials and yearly programme happening every year

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee structure is according to me quiet expensive. They charge money in every aspect starting from college admission fee to fresher's party. And the excursion fee is too much and unnecessary. According to their standard it is useless. Other colleges provide same kind of facilities in a very low price.

Fees and Financial Aid

This college according to me didn't provide any kind of scholarship. They should provide but they don't. About loan I don't have much of idea. But I don't think they provide that too. Every college should provide scholarships to students who are financial weak. But this college doesn't seem to care.

Campus Life

3

There are many extracurricular activities but are of no use. Because if you take part in any of the extracurricular activities your own departmental teacher would scold you for doing that. They will criticize you for your extracurricular talent except few will appreciate it.

Hostel Facilities

2.5

No. I used to attend college from my house daily. I used to take a bus and that travelled for 1 hour to reach to my college. Journey used to take 20/- and food requirement would take 30/-. So at least 50/- daily expense.

Alumni/Alumna

They might be helpful only if you take initiative. Most of the time you can only connect to them in the yearly reunions where you won't get such scope to ask about educational things. But if you want to connect to them you can in the social sites which might help.

Faculty

1.5

Some of the faculty members are really good and helpful. But some of them are always ready to let you down in front of everyone without any reason. Everyone is very knowledgeable but few are definitely not good teacher. Anyway you have to adjust and not let them down you spirit.

Placement Experience:

People who major in my department usually opt for masters over placement not because of this college but because overall industrial or academic opportunities are better with a pg degree. Masters from this college is not recommended as i have heard so from my seniors. Some of my seniors managed to crack competitives and secure MSc seats at great places. Training and Placement cell had a good coordinator previously but now its almost non existent. Companies do come and hire Bpharm, Mpharm and MSc candidates. Packages are below average. Only Nestle pays well. But if you do well you'll eventually climb up the corportate ladder. From the time i am here i have not heard of any BSc candidate getting placed. Most go for higher studies.

Placement Experience:

The average package offered for such roles ranges between ?2–3 LPA, while the highest package offered to a BSc student is around ?4 LPA, depending on skills and specialization. Overall, around 15–20% of BSc students get placed through campus drives, and many students rely on off-campus opportunities.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum was well thought out as per me but there were subjects that i found absolutely unnecessary. Subjects like history evs and clc were in no way related to my course. Coming to the main subjects Design, Printing, Photography and film and Media Training were absolutely necessary for my course and whilst the faculty for some of these subjects were really bad, some were good. It is also important to mention none of these subjects actually helped us prepare for the real world. Instead internships and freelance helped us more than these subjects could ever do. Exams were held bi monthly to keep track of what we learnt and every 6 months we had our semester exams. Overall if you want to be a media professional INTERNSHIPS AND JOBS WILL HELP YOU MORE THAN A COLLEGE WILL. I am biased on this opinion as my college didnt provide me with the correct guidance and support i needed to make it in the real world.

In case of computer science department, placement is provided at the Last year of M.sc course. Many companies like Wipro, b10x, Tata visited here. Highest package ever is three lakh per annum. 20-40% of the students got placement after completing M.Sc computer science. My plan after B.sc is to pursue MCA.

Course Curriculum Overview:

* It's all about practical knowledge, we are getting from this course and another aspect is if you wants to make your career in research or lecturer then you should go for it. *No changes required in teaching methods but if college will provide hostel facilities and campus requirement drive, then it will better for candidates.
