Likes
- The main thing is the faculty, they all are very good and helping. They even understand our problems and I can ask even a single doubt to them as they don't see us a msc student.
- The next thing is that the clean environment in the campus. The workers will clean the building and every places neatly every time.
- The hostel room, I like and from the balcony, it provide good view. As I am a malayali, I can now understand different regional languages and Hindi little bit
Dislikes
- The hostel bathrooms are not that much clean and it doesn't have the necessary items that we need in a toilet.
- Even though the faculty is helping, some teachers are just putting ppt to complete their part before exams.
- The climate is very hard to survive. Here in June and July, experience the most hot climate, while in December, January, february period experience heavy winter and that's in time of exams.
Course Curriculum Overview
Actually, the seniors told me that the department faculty is good and central university of Punjab is really nice. That's why I opt this course and also I have studied my bsc this subject and I was very fond of this subject. Teachers should understand what the students know and should think that we are not as much thoughtful and knowledgeable as them. Three surprise tests are not needed I think. One will be enough. This is making us so tired. One teacher takes class upto 8 or 9 in the night. That also make us tired. That should be changed.
Fees and Financial Aid
For semester, I paid 17,000 above first and after coming to hostel, I paid 15500 and for mess fee first 3000 had paid. Every month again, mess fee comes as 3000. With that, I paid 7500 for the field trip for our geology. I have around 5000 expenses after coming here just for buying winter clothes and all as it is cold here in Punjab december other than that 5000 had gone for all the other needs. As I am in general category, I don't get any benefits. Both my parents have no job even though they take loan to give education to us. Only because of the category, I have suffered a lot. The first hostel admission, I don't get seat and everywhere I have ran for the seat. Finally, after overcoming obstacles only I got the seat. Next semester, I have to pay again around 10000 and also hostel fee comes as around 9000. Also for my travel to Kerala as it is my native place, also should cost 2500 and above
Campus Life
Actually, facilities are very greater in all the labs that I have. Also a foundation day is coming that's in February. So we have to experience that and I want to sing in that. Books were enough in library and have the facility to read. But books can be only taken upto 5:00. That is a problem.
Hostel Facilities
Facilities are so good in room. The meal quality is becoming worst as the water is not good here. So many people got affected with loose motion and vomiting. Hostel registration process was very hurry burry. I don't want to remember that day I ran for hostel. The toilet is not good at all.
Admission
I have applied in Pondicherry University but as I was in general I will not get and cutoff was also higher. First I applied in the CUPB and first I got here. So I opt this. And also I was curious about how is Punjab and the other near places. Also I need to learn Hindi. The admission procedure was very nice but hostel make me run and run to many wardens.
Faculty
Teachers put ppt before exams to complete their part, that's their disliked part and only one teacher teaches us very nicely giving specific reasons and I can say that he is getting salary only because of his hardwork and passion that he is putting into the need of students. He is also very friendly with us. The hod is very calm and cool. When I was tired of running to get hostel, he helped me by signing all the requests. Exams are like in mid semester and end semester and there are three suprise tests for each subjects as I have 6 subjects and 3 practicals. One is somewhat we can study . Others we have to prepare lot to get an idea like MINERALOGY and CRYSTALLOGRAPHY paper. Actually, this system of syllabus is not good as teachers are not completing the vast syllabus, they are talking about the one they prepared.
Night Life
Gym is here. Also cafetaria is inside the campus. Library is also very nice. The hostel main gate is closed at 7:00 pm and the gate of girls hostel will close at 10:00. The favourite place I gone after coming here is amritsar. The roads and buildings were very beautiful. But there are more thieves. But I liked rajastan most than amritsar. Beautiful view is there at Rajasthan that we have gone for our field trip. The night life is so enjoyable. We will be in mess in night to have good times with our friends.
