What Students Say
Likes
- Daulat Ram College is a Women's college. Many feel that this isplates a student to the real interaction they have to face with the world but its not such a case. I consider it more safer and comfortable.
- I like that DRC is not a part of DUSU, so at the time of elections our college is out of the chaos, mess and unnecessary interference by the DUSU candidates and their party members. There is a much safer environment in our college during the election
- The library service of DRC is very good and the staff is also very helpful. There is a vast range of books available and ample of space for the students to sit and study. It also has a gym but they dont let us use it, so I don't get the point of it.
Dislikes
- The ERP portal launched for subject selection is not efficient for students to opt for their subjects as no information is regulated regarding the launch of the selection forms. By the time one checks their portal most of the subjects gets filled.
- The placements and internships offered are not worth it. The domain of jobs is just saled or HR most of the time. The internships offered during the internship fair are just for their namesake. They add no value and not much is learnt through them.
- They offer a number of subjects for electives but the faculty is not upto the mark. Some of them doesn't even have the knowledge of the subject. Some of the teachers are very rigid with their way of teaching and marking for internals
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is relevant. It has a vast syllabus elaborated all through the course. Each semester has 3 core subjects that are related to the course . As B.Com Hons, the curriculum is great. It includes most of the topics of commerce like financial accounting, management accounting, cost accounting, business statistics, business analytics, international business, financial management and many other. I took this course for the same reason as it gives a wide range of fields like cost accountant, financial advisor, etc
Placement Experience
The placements are average with the average package of 5-6LPA. The students are eligible for placements in their third year of college. They start getting forms for placements with the start of the 5th semester. But the quality of placement during my 3td year that is 2024-25 was not satisfactory. The companies that were coming were not recognisable and were coming for just 1-2 repeated posts. The companies that usually come for the placements are Deloitte (did not appear for 2024-25 session) , KPMG, Accenture, NAVIKENZ, DE SHAW, and some other not so famous companies. The highest package offered was by Nation with Namo that came for the first time. Offer was 12 LPA, but no one got placed. Lowest offer was for 3.25 LPA.
Fees and Financial Aid
Scholarships are available based on the reservation category and low income families/orphans. No such scholarship is available on the base of merit The amount of scholarship for low income earners is upto 10000. College provides information of other scholarship opportunities of other private/govt institutions such as NSP, scholarship by Safdarjung Trust and a few like these.
Campus Life
My experience in the college has been good. There are lots of societies and student clubs. One can involve in as many as they can handle. There are dance society both western and classical, debate society, poetry, dramatics, fashion society and other student run social clubs. The college infrastructure is not satisfactory as there is lack of classrooms, projector, computers, etc. There is construction of a new building that would provide the solution to lack of classrooms. The annual fest of DRC is called Manjari and is held usually between Feb-April. The library service is great. There is accessibility of all range of books which can be issued for 15 days.
Admission
I applied for a lot of colleges under CSAS portal but my first preference was Hansraj College. But unfortunately i did not score enough marks to get into it so i got admission in Daulat Ram College. I had an option for updating the college but after a few days of going to classes i felt comfortable and locked this college only. The admission process was simple. After college allocation by CSAS portal we had to give documents such as 10th, 12th marksheet, Caste Certificate (if any), Income certificate (if asked). Just these documents are submitted to the respective teachers. We can get the original marksheets after the end of the first year from the college itself.
Faculty
The faculty is mixed. Some of them are good and some are worse. The faculty to student ratio must be around 100:1. The faculty of philosophy and political science department is good. Faculty of commerce department are average. They are approachable but some of them avoid to take up the doubts. The best faculty we've got so far is Mrs. Roopshika but unfortunately she has left the college. Other than her were Ms. Richa Kaur, Mrs.Shivani Bansal, Mrs Gurmeet Kaur. All of these teachers have good teaching methods and are very approachable for any doubts. They make sure the student understands the topic and help them in every way.
Night Life
There is no nightlife in the college campus but yeah outside of it there is many places to go. But considering the fact that it us unsafe in Delhi to roam around in the night, so students prefer to enjoy their day while staying in their rooms at night. The places to hangout near the north campus of delhi university is 1. Sudama chai 2. Mr. Crust 3.Kamla nagar 4. Arts faculty 5. Majnu ka Tila Other good places to hangout around delhi are qutub minar, lodhi garden, Haus khaz, chandni chowk, india gate. The hostel timing of college hostel is 7:30pm in the evening. Other than that the students living in pg usually have the in time around 9-10pm. The ones living in flats are free from such restrictions. They live independently without any timing or guest issue There is easy available of pgs and flats around the north campus for both girls and boys. There are independent pgs for girls and boys but their rates are slightly high depending upon thdir distance with the college.
Other Applied Colleges
