Everything you need to know about VIT Vellore

Here you can pick any course you want. Students are given that freedom. Students can pick the course that they wish for. That's a very good thing in VIT. There are a huge bunch of courses from which you can pick. You can choose both the course and the faculty for it. VIT sets its own curriculum. This curriculum prepares you really well for the real world applications. You have 2 internals exams and one final exam along with 2 quizzes and 1 digital assignment for each semester. Technical courses can have some improvement.

There are a lot of internships available in VIT. They recruit students from second year but if you are a genius then you might get an internship in your first year itself. Some internships provide stipend while some don't. Most of the internships are provided by startups some of which are started by VIT students. Some startups recruit you as a full time employee is you do really good. You also get internships from top companies in the last year whom mostly recruit you permanently after that. Since there is huge volume of students it might be difficult for students with no skills to get internships.

Placements in VIT are really good. The average placement in VIT is around 10 LPA. That is a really good figure if you compare it with other colleges. Almost 900+ companies visit VIT each year. Students are eligible for placements from the fourth year. My plan is get placed in a really good company after completing the degree. Highest package offered to a student last year was 1 crore per annum. more than 80 percentage of students get placed. If you are in computer science field then it is highly likely that you will get placed.

I will be paying 450000 every year. Fees changes according to the category in which you join. Category depends on your rank in VITEEE which is the entrance exam through which you can join. Category-1 Fees : 200000 /year Category-2 Fees : 300000 /year Category-3 Fees : 400000 /year Category-4 Fees : 450000 /year Category-5 Fees : 500000 /year There is no special category for SC and ST. You have to pay a caution fee of 15000 for the hostel. Fees stays the same throughout the course. Schlorships are given to students in the top 100 ranks. My friends are mostly in the 2nd and 3rd fees category.

Overall experience in VIT is really great. You have all the amenities inside the campus. The campus is really huge which spans a distance of around 375 acres. There is a huge library inside VIT which has 7 floors and thousands of books. VIT os technologically really advanced. Classrooms are really good. Benches are really comfortable. All the classes has a projector. You have all kinds of sports in VIT. VIT gives importance to all sorts of sports and you have the facility for all types of sports. There are 2 gyms in VIT. There are hundreds of clubs in VIT and many chapters( Next level clubs). Students have access to everything and the clubs here are really great.

Hostels in VIT is really great. There are more than 30 hostels for the huge volume of students. The rooms in the hostels are really neat and very livable. They provide all sorts of room. They also provide deluxe(luxury) and normal rooms. You ahve to register for the hostels when you first join the college and it keeps changing every year. You get your hostel preference through your cgpa. The quality of mess food depens on the mess you choose since there are a lot of messes available. There are three types of messes - veg, non-veg and special mess.

My aim was always to get into IITs or NITs. I got 96.8 percentile in my JEE Mains so I could not get into any top tier NITs. VIT stands tall after IITs and NITs. It has all the feautures that you want from a premier college. Even if you look at the NIRF rankings, VIT is only behind IITs and NIT Trichy which is the top NIT. VIT ticks all the boxes. It also has a very good placement. Almost 900+ companies visit VIT each year. Since I got the best premier institute after IITs and NITs I took VIT.

There are a whole lot of faculty available. There are thounsands of faculty. So you have a lot of variety. You can choose your faculty through a method called FFCS. FFCS is based on student's cgpa. Students with a better cgpa have an edge over picking good faculty. Almost all the faculties are from IIT. There is no doubt about the quality of VIT's faculty. The faculty here is really great. Also it depends on the faculty for you to get good grades since it is relative grading in VIT and not absolute grading.

I had to write a test called VITEEE to enter this college. Over 2 lakh students write this exam every year. So it is really hard for anyone to get into this college. I was preparing for JEE so that I could get into NIT, it was really helpful for the exam. If you are really good at JEE mains then it is a piece of cake for you. Entrance exam is the only way through which anyone can enter this college. There is no interview or group discussion.

VIT has spots to hangout around due to its vast campus size. There are a lot of cafeterias and restaurants in VIT. You have 2 gyms in VIT. There is a huge lake in VIT. There are many chillout spots like the DC bakery and the grass field near main gate. The hostels are really good here. The night life in the hostels is really good as you are with your friends. Wardens don't disturb the students a lot. You get night slips from clubs or any event that you participate through which you can go out of hostel after 9. Usually you are not allowed to go outside the hostels after 9 pm. The library here is so huge and really great.
