But tbe program itself covers various dimensions of business, economics, and management, offering a broad perspective essential for commerce students. However, the curriculum might lean more towards the theoretical aspects and not prepare the students for real life work. Strengthening partnerships with industries could provide students with more internship opportunities and practical insights. With a lot of societies, the college encourages participation in co-curricular activities, fostering skills like leadership and teamwork. The examination aligns with the standard DU norms, following a semester system, with exams conducted twice a year. They also conduct fegular assessments, including assignments and projects alongside. The exams are considered moderately challenging, but easy to pass with last moment studies.

Some of the top names include: ProcDNA: Interns here work on data analytics projects, digging into large datasets to provide actionable business insights. Approximately 60% of the graduating students in the three?year UG course are placed reported. The highest package of the last graduating batch was 23 lakhs, with the overall highest being 36 LPA placed the year prior. The lowest package is around 3.6 LPA, which is due to mass hiring. The median package is somewhere around 4.5-5.5 LPA. Recruiting companies span major sectors such as finance, consulting, audit, and marketing. At Sri Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce (SGGSCC), the fee for the Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) program & B.com (hons) is 34,770 INR. There is no variations in fees based on categories. But the college offers concessions or scholarships to students from economically weaker sections. There's Merit-Based Scholarships and Need-Based scholarships.

The campus life here is decent, enough to keep things balanced between academics and fun. For instance, the college hosts some pretty cool festivals every year. The cultural fest “Kalakari” usually kicks off around December, when you get to see dance, music, drama, and art from students whereas the technical fest "Mettle" is generally held in the month of March. When it comes to the library, it’s a real treasure trove. You’ll find an extensive collection of books and journals covering commerce, economics, and management. Plus, with both physical copies and online databases (thanks to automated systems like KOHA and NETLIB), it’s super easy to track down the resources you need. Sports and extracurriculars? There’s plenty on offer. The campus sports facilities includes basketball and volleyball courts, a gymnasium, and even indoor options like table tennis. But the timings for those can be a drawback, as they're open from 9 am to 4 pm only. The cricket ground is also on lease (perpetually!!!) so it's there for namesake. There are a variety of student-run clubs and societies--from cultural groups and debate clubs to technical and entrepreneurial forums--that play a huge role in shaping campus life and ensuring you get a well?rounded college experience.

I applied to several DU colleges; I remember looking at the various north campus colleges. I ended up putting it right after those because it is considered to be the best under North Campus and Venky. With my score I could've taken a decent south campus like Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Atmaram Sanatan Dharam or another Khalsa college like SGTB Khalsa but I chose SGGSCC because it felt like a better overall fit for me. SGGSCC offers a more friendly and balanced environment with supportive faculty and less pressure on attendance, being the perfect place if you're pursuing a professional course alongside. It also has one of the best infrastructure in all of DU. Admissions are largely based on your CUET marks through the centralized DU admission portal for which you've to register seperately. You fill in your details, upload the necessary documents, and then wait for the merit list to be released. There isn't any fixed cutoff as it varies but for my batch it was 728 for b.com prog and 746 for b.com hons. So, a similar cutoff can be expected. The only reservation available here is for sikhs and the cutoff for them is roughly 100-130 marks less than general category students. The process was straightforward and transparent. The online portal was easy to navigate, and the admission guidelines were clear from the start.

The faculty-to-student ratio varies across departments, but for B.com it's somewhere around 1:35 to 1:40, which helps facilitate personalized attention. The faculty is generally approachable and supportive. A few teachers, like Dr. Gurminder Kaur Arora and Dr. Vaishali Singh, are well respected for their teaching style. I've yet to encounter any faculty that js not likable. The college follows a semester system, with two main examinations each academic year. In addition to these, internal assessments, assignments, and continuous tests are conducted regularly. The difficulty of these exams varies, but it is generally very easy to pass. The curriculum provides wide exposure and includes subjects like the Ability Enhancement Compulsory Course (AECC), which adds value to their education. And also gives exposure to a variety of subjects.

Honestly, the nightlife at SGGSCC isn’t like what you might find in some urban private colleges--it’s more laid-back and focused on winding down after a busy day of classes. The campus cafeteria is a popular spot during the early evening, but it typically closes by 5 pm. The library, though an excellent study resource, also wraps up by around 4 pm, so it’s not really a place for a late-night session. The gym is the same so it is quite a drawback. However, the campus' vicinity to the market and other places like gym makes it easily accessible. The area is also considered to be safe to roam around at night. There's also a Pacific Mall nearby, and other places like the nearby Bille di Hatti or small, local eateries are pretty popular.
