Positive and Negative Sides of My College

The collge is under Vidhyasagar University. Rules, regulation, exam pattern and almost everything is decided by the University. On the other hand the neighbour college, Medinipur College is an autonomous one. So the meritorious students choose Medinipur for their graduation and post graduation.

Kharagpur College is under the Vidhyasagar University. B.A honours is a three year degree course. You have a main subject that's your honours subject. And you have to choose two pass subjects. The is an annual exam at the end of the year. But the University has recently changed the annual exam pattern into semester system.

No, the college does not provide any kind of stipend for general students . They only mercy the administration fee for some specific students. And in the case of job placement the college do a very little. It's totally depend on the student himself.

Like all other educational institutions Kharagpur College also celebrates all kinds of social, cultural and national events. Events like Independent Day, Rabindra Jayanti, Republic Day, Aranna Soptaha are celebrated with special care. Led by the seniors and NSS unit in all the events we take part directly or indirectly.

The fee structure is feasible actually. The charge for rs 3500 to 5000 for an year. And it includes library fee, cycle and bike stand fee, building maintenance, gardening, tution fee etc. But still it's expensive for me as I am son of a farmer.

I have got the bikash bhaban merrit cum means scholarship. But that is provided by the government, not college. I have no idea about any scholarship that the college offers. But I am not sure that the college does not offer any scholarship or loan facility.

Kharagpur College is very good it. In fact the college is known for its extracurricular activities. Led by the NCC and NSS unit some social activities are often organised. The college has also a great playground. The authority organizes an anual sport competition every year. There is also inter-college cricket kabaddi competition.

Yes I have opted for hostel. I had an idea before that college hostels are not appropriate for study to continue. But I was wrong. There is nothing like ragging or other bad things. More than that the college provide extra tuition for hostellers. And we get facilities in many more cases.

In my hostel the seniors are always helpful. The help me on my decision making that are very useful not only in my education life but also in my personal life. The college union is also very active .They help us in numerous ways. Last year my classmates and I had an college trip with the senior students of our department. There we all had enjoyed greatly.

The willing students are advised to fill up a form first. Then the college publishes a merrit list. Then on the admission day the students selected come to college with their guardian and get admitted. I became very excited when I saw my name in the top order of merrit list, but not surprised at all as I had a good number in English in H.S. However I got admitted in Kharagpur College to complete my B.A ENGLISH(H).And now I am a 3rd year student.

The college is very good at its faculty. The college is known for its advanced science department. The teaching staff is also very good. They are very friendly and helpful. Specially the staff of English department is very reliable. Both the guest teachers and the permanent teachers give thier best efforts for us.
