Course Curriculum Overview

I chose B.Com (H) here for its finance focus, practical classes, and active societies. Seniors guide well, curriculum is career-oriented, and exams are timely, comfortable, and manageable in difficulty.

Class Size: 62Course Fees: INR 14000 per year

Internships Opportunities

DU offers multiple internship drives & placement cells exclusively for students, connecting them with top firms. Roles come with stipends, real projects & outcomes, helping students gain practical exposure.

Placement Experience

Placements begin in 2nd year with Big 15, startups, mid-sized & service firms. Smooth process, varied profiles offered. Highest package is 25 LPA, average 5 LPA. Students need 6+ CGPA to be eligible for placements.

Fees and Financial Aid

The yearly fee is around ?14,000, with ?1,200 per semester as exam fees. Over 3 years, the total comes to ?42,000–?45,000. Fees are the same across categories, though reserved category students get lower CUET cutoffs. No direct scholarships exist, but students can apply for DU merit-cum-need and external scholarships. Fees have remained stable.

Campus Life

College fests & society fests held in April-May. Library offers wide books/journals. Classrooms well-equipped, sports & extracurriculars are vibrant. Active clubs & groups enrich student life with opportunities & exposure.

Admission

I applied to several colleges in Delhi University, both in South and North Campus, but SBSC was my first preference. The main reason was its proximity to my home and the strong reputation it holds, which made it the best fit for me. Since I got my first preference, I did not upgrade or face any rejection. The admission process was very smooth; after paying the yearly fee of around 14–15k, only one visit to the college was required for verification. Eligibility is set by UGC and may vary each year, so students need to check the DU website for exact details. Overall, my admission experience was hassle-free and transparent.

Faculty

Faculty at SBSC are professional and approachable with a balanced ratio. Course has 6–7 subjects/semester, 160 marks each. Exams are moderate, failures rare. Curriculum is relevant, preparing students academically and professionally.

Night Life

Late-night fests & events are safe, with nearby cafes, malls & restaurants to hang out. Gyms, cafeterias, library, hostels have set timings. The area is secure, making student life convenient & enjoyable.

Likes

Affordability in terms of fee structure and degree they don't have huge amount of fee for any particular program.
Market value as its the oldest and known college of delhi university and their new buildings makes it value for money college.

Dislikes

college do not have proper hygiene in terms of classroom and campus

its highly reletive as they claim and mention in their course structure. they overall difficulty level the exam level are also moderate and if its about the areas for improvement they should focus key campus and library area its should be accessable to all

good campus life like cafeteria area, library, and classrooms

could get a bit crowded when both the shifts have classes

the whole reason i chose jims kalkaji is beacuse of placements it is popular for placements it offers multiple placements after your 3rd or 4th year of specializtion different multiple companies come here to pick students.

some classroom and campus facilitues need improvement
placement oppotunites can be improved, esecially for student looking for better corporate exposure.

Life at South Campus

Likes

The crowd at venky is great, diverse crowd.
The campus is well maintained and is one of the bests at DU.
Opportunities provided to students are great

Dislikes

The attendance policy is a little strict for 1st and 2nd year

The course provides a comprehensive image of finance and management, though after NEP, the curriculum seems a little irrelevent. The exams are conducted twice in a year, 2 sems per year, they conduct mid sem exams as well.

Shyam Lal College( Morning) Review

Likes

College is improving day by day teaching faculty is also helpful it recently got A++ NAAC credition as well
Overall college is good if you have good peer group.
Near to north campus so doesn't really feel much of headache if you want to visit regularly.

Dislikes

Shadara is not a good place to spend your college life.
Evening college crowd has made the reputation of the college bad.
Near by area is not safe for Girls in late hours.

Placement Experience:

6th sem is the first time college placement are proceeded . Companies are not impressive and mostly are entry level jobs such as cold calling and such which they offer. Highest package was 4 lpa and avg was 2.5 only. Around 60 percent students gets placed.

The online learning platform is easy ans simple to use students can acces lecture and assigments and study materials anytime
Faculty mambers provide clear guidance through online sessions and study materials they are supportive
They procides recording that was very usefull when we will not attend the live class

Dislikes

Since the classes are in online and also there are some techical issues while taking classes that will interupt classes
placement support is limited in online classes so students need to search for internships and job oppertunities on their own
Its deffecult to connect student coordinators while we wnat exam timetable etc they are too slow

I choose BCOM because the want to take ACCA after BCOM it will helps to improve my career and give a better job and also BCOM is the basices of ACCA like law, financial managment, taxation etc .The curriculam provide strong fountation for students who wamts to pursue higher studies such as M.COM , MBA and professuonal couses. BCOM helps to understanding real world bussiness practices , accounting sytem etc . on;ine study material recordimg leture and assigments also make flexible for students to study their own pace. exams are usually conducted semister wise the difficulty level 0of exam are moderate if students were attend the class regulary and prepare well

i dont like any thing in this college

there is a green gaurden in my colleges old campus
we have a big ground in our college which i like i can play football there
they make an football ground in old campus which is good

Dislikes

techers are not good in teacing they just want to let it go the classes
my college was too small and the classes are not properly furnished for my class size
there is no place for sit in the shade or to make our mind diverted or have fun and the canteen is worst of old campus

i am from commerce background i want to do eco honers but in 12th i dont have mathematics so i cant then i decideid for b. com honers but i aloted the b.com program which is my 3rd priority umm i leanrd new things in my ncc and with my friends there are very less college activities to i dont know how to make my college life good and make some experiences they can make us travel with them to the real buiseness or any factory or a relay paper work from any company i want to do a camp in jab which is good for my ncc life but it is during my exams thats why i cant did that camp yet

Shyam Lal College( Morning) Review
