What Students Say

Likes

I like the faculty of this college a lot as it includes a combination of young and experienced professors
The greenery and cleanliness is another attractive attribute.
Pecfest is the biggest event of the year and almost everybody waits for it the whole year

Dislikes

The girls to boys ratio is very bad like in my branch it is 11:1
The profs are highly eduacted and experience..but their teaching stylw is really boring

Course Curriculum Overview

The curriculum is tough for most of the subjects and is designied in a way that it's not easy to score a very good grade..and the relative marking makes it even tough to do so...also getting a back is very possible here..so we have to keep studying constantly

Class Size: 120Course Fees: INR 800000 per year

Internships Opportunities

As I see...a lot of seniors in 3rd and 4th year have got their internships in big mncs and start-ups as well in tech jobs, finance, consultancy and core profiles as well...so this college invites a lot of companies for on campus internship and recruitment process

Placement Experience

This college has decently good packages both the average package and median packages as well as almost 80 percent studnets are placed before the 4th year ends...if I talk about my branch the median was 11 lpa and almost 90 students were palced out of 120 in 2024

Fees and Financial Aid

Firstly...about the general candidates..the semister wise tution fees is 95k and for the reservation candidates I don't have much idea..but its 6k ig...and for hostel...its around 80k per year..whoch does not include mess fee which is around 4500 per month

Campus Life

the college consists of a lot of clubs...music, dramatics , robotics , manufacturing , related tomechanical, electrical, electronics and coding as well...if them are active. share an overwhelming experience

Admission

This college being the best college in chandigarh and has its legacy in the north made me choose it...it has decently good packages for almost every branch and It was the best option available for me..so I chose it

Faculty

The faculty to student ratio is okay..like u wouldn't feel that there are too many students as its a government college and I would say most of the profs are able to deliver the knowledge except a few...like eg. One of my prof of computer programming just comes to class and scrolls the pdf

Night Life

As the college is in chandigarh...it has a really beautiful night life where the whole city is active during the night time as well..market and spots to enjoy..and the library is mostly open till 8 and during exams it opens till 12 at night

PEC - History and optimism

Likes

The campus is over 100 years old and has strong alumini network.
Placements are good as per my rank in JEE
Peer group is good and there are diversed people all around

Dislikes

Infrastructure is really old; but then again legacy comes at a cost.
Campus is smaller as compared to NITs and IITs ; so is the funding
Its still not an institute of national importance. Has no nation wide recognition

Placement Experience:

Since the first batch of VLSI is yet to be placed I would take example of ECE for reference. Out of 110 students which sat for placements , 91 got placed , median of 13 lakh with avergae of 16 lakh and 61 lakh highest on campus. These are of 24-25 and this year placements are better as even apple visited us after an hiatus of 3 years. In core electronics , Samsung Rnd , TATA electronics , Cadence , Micron etc visited for tech , UKG , PhonePay , Oracle , Accenture etc vist in consulting and finance , Mckinsey , JP Morgan , GoldmanSachs , AmericanExpress visit. After my btech I plan to do a job.

Chitkara University - Everything You wanna know about

Likes

Syllabus is good, it is very versatile and updated according to the industry standards
The University also has a good events and also a good night life
The infrastructure is very modern with unique outlets to eat in

Dislikes

There is a uniform system which is very bad according to university
Very strict rules regarding in and out of the University
The outlets in university are quite expensive

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would rate the course plan around 7 out of 10 in terms of relevance and depth. I chose this course mainly because it includes core tech subj like DSA, DBMS, OS, AI and cloud, which are useful for jobs in tech field. The presence of lab work and proj based learning also influenced my choice. The curriculum gives a fair base in theory and basic prac skills. It helps in campus place prep and also builds base for higher study like MTech or MS. But real world skill still depends a lot on self study, online course and side proj. Some topics feel updated, but a few subj are still too theory heavy and not linked to real case use. Exams are held twice as mid test and once as end term in each sem. There are also quiz, viva and lab eval. The level is moderate. If you attend class and revise notes, it is manageable. For improve, more live proj, hack event, ind visit and case study should be added. Teach method should shift more to code demo and less slide read

Likes

Good facilities, really teaches student and give individual attention in class too
Good infrastructure , as it was just built in 2021, the infrastructure is top notch and no complaints about it.
Papers are being checked anonymously, one’s paper can be checked by any teacher in any campus, so no chance of partiality

Dislikes

80% strict attendance criteria other they would not allow to sit in exam
Passing criteria is 40% and grading system is also bery difficult, two D grade is 1 F and more than 2F could lead to year repeat year, not even semster
Alot of assigments, really hectic at times

Placement Experience:

We have avergae package of 12 lpa and 57lpa highest, i am not aware of how mqny placed. As such i have plan to get placed but if things didnt go out as planed then mba or mtech maybe. Our campus just opened recently so there is no much information but our placements are central that means, companies visting mumbai have to visit us too, and u can refer mumbai campus placement for our campus because its counted on central level and not varries campus to campus

PEC Chandigarh Review

I chose this college over other colleges because of the placements. No matter how outdated their curriculum is but this college gives good placements. At my rank this was the best college which was giving an average of package of 12LPA from Production and Industrial Engg. I also wanted to live in a good city so I chose this college. If we talk about the admission process of this college, you have to first appear in JEE Mains. Then you have to apply in JOSAA Counselling. There are 6 rounds in JOSAA in which seat is alloted to the students who have got better ranks. Imo if you are a general category student then you have to score above 96 percentile to get in Production of PEC. If you dont get any seat in JOSAA then there is CSAB also. You might get seat in CSAB rounds...Read More

PEC - History and optimism

I was getting electrical engineering at NIT surat and CSE cyber security at NIT patna I choose PEC VLSI as I was interested in Electronics and PEC was a better college than the other two options.I got rejected from DTU EE as I didnt have the required rank to get there as a general male other state applicant. PEC takes admission through JEE mains for participating in JOSAA and CSAB an applicant must have above 75% or 60%[SC/ST] in there +2 PEC vlsi as an open candidate requires 98.4%ile + as an open candidate....Read More
