Course Curriculum Overview

4

I like political science as my core subject. It makes us aware for the on going geopolitics and also makes a responsible citizen. The only improvement needed for the course is that in the college we want smart classrooms.

Internships Opportunities

4

Internship opportunities are available for students for 1st, 2nd and 3rd year. May be also for the 4th year students. The current internship program going on is the principal internship scheme for 2nd and 3rd year students. Students will get the amount of 4000 per month.

Placement Experience

3

Students are eligible for placements in 3rd year as per the required eligibility of different placements units. Now there are some of the placement cells goig on inside the college. The placement cell is also active. The average placement of the college is 5 lakhs .

Fees and Financial Aid

The detailed fee structure are as follows. I paid approx 20000 at the time of admission. My batchmates other than the category also paid the same amount ie of rupees 20000. There are some of the scholarships that are provided by the college and university. One of those is for the students whose economic conditions are not good.

Campus Life

4

Annual fests of different departments/ courses are held. And on the monthly typical basis many academics related and cultural fests are organised. Many books for academic purposes are there in the library. One of them i recently issued was foreign policy by Rajiv dixit. Table tennis, cricket, volleyball, football chess etc. Social media handles of different societies and association are also there.

Hostel Facilities

1

There are no hostels provided by college. Student has to choose their own accomodation. Many students live in pgs or flats. There are pockets in sheikh sarai. J k and l Pocket. Pg Rent varies according to facilities. Starting from 6000 to 30000 per bed per month.

Admission

First i got deshbandhu college with history hons. But i want political science beacuse i have interest in public administration, foreign policy, political theory and international relations. I also like current affairs. So i chose shaheed bhagat singh college ba program political science with history. Aspirants have to qualify for the given cutoff.

Faculty

4

Here are the insights of faculty members of the shaheed bhagat singh college. Faculty to student ratio is good. The behaviour of the facilities are also well behaved. As i am the student of 2nd semester of this college. I got very limited interactions. In 1st semester, i had hindi as my general elective paper. Name of mam is Dr. Kamlesh Kumari. She teaches us very nicely. She also take care of us like their own children. Another proffesor is Dr. Rajeev Ranjan Sinha. He is the faculty of Foreign Policy. He is a genius person. His classes are well focused and interactive. Difficulty level of Exams conducted are moderate.

Night Life

4

My favourite campus spot is flag garden. There are many slots in the campus. Playground, near canteen, sports room, etc. There are no hostels. Outside college many students hangout at authority or cafes. Night life becomes more beautiful when the street lights, and college lights are switched on.

Placement Experience:

The placement opportunities are mainly for commerce stream departments but the humanities stream also are offered internship from the government ministries such as ministry of culture and Home ministry. There are many private companies that come to offer placements. The students from 3rd year in particular apply for internships. The highest package iffered is 500000 and the average is 250000. About 45% students get placements. My plan after getting the degree is to go for higher studies.

I wanted to do PhD in Political Science but due to percentage I took up BA program. Teachers used to provide notes but mostly I used to be off. There was nothing wrong with the college. Exam timings were good.

As a future law student philosophy was one of the options which was good to opt. Secondly, comparatively less people opt it and it can be one of the better choices if you are preparing for upsc and taking it as an optional. Teaching can be made more interactive as the topics are really interesting

Remarks:

Positive : the faculties are good and I could say our college is the meeting place of various cultures ranging from Kerala to jammukashmir Negative: the infrastructure is poor. Labs and libraries are not so good. And there are stray dogs who often steps into classes and make us afraid. College is not fully air conditioned but is on processing.
