Course Curriculum Overview
NITJ updates its curriculum as per the needs of the industry and market. But talking about my instrumentation and control engineering Curriculum, it's quite outdated and needs to change. Let's take one example, there is one subject- Microprocessor. The curriculum is stuck at 8085 and 8086 MP in 2026. The areas of improvement are to bring the change and teach what the real life industries demand.
Placement Experience
NITJ has a placement cell, also known as the Centre of Training and Placements(TPO office of NITJ). The placement scenes differ depending on the courses offered. The average placements are 12-14LPA in the Computer Science branch. Every year, hundreds of companies, including Pvt and govt both. PSUs like HPCL and BPCL recruit students based on merit and academic excellence.

Campus Life
My journey at NITJ has been an incredible part of my personal growth and development. It has taught me to grow in various aspects, which include logic building, technical analysis, research skills, and how to collaborate with other clubs/societies. There is a technical and a cultural fest named UTKANSH Held every year, which is 3 day program, and a guest celebrity comes every year. There are a lot of cultural activities that include music, dance, modelling and even DJ. Talking about the Libraries there is 1 Big library on the campus that has thousands of books of every genre. Each year, students went for INTER-NIT sports competitions.
Hostel Facilities
There is a cleaning staff for every day maintenance of hostels. The hostel provides the WIFI, Mess facilities, and friendly attendant/warden staff available 24 hoursfor students' welfare. The amount of Rs. 25000 is paid to the mess department every semester, which serves 3 meals a day. All the rooms available are non-AC but well-maintained.
Admission
I got my admission done in NIT JALANDHAR through JEE MAINS JOSAA counselling. I created a list of a few colleges near my state and set a preference according to the courses they offered. I applied to a few more colleges and counsellings, including JOSAA(for Top engineering colleges all over India that include Top NIT's), JAC Delhi (for engineering colleges in Delhi). I got selected in the 3rd round of JOSAA counselling with Instrumentation and Control engineering. I chose this collegeover others because of its NIRF ranking.
Faculty
The faculty in each department is around 20-25. The faculty is really helpful and quite friendly to students, giving them a comfort zone to approach and talk in case of any Academic/personal issues they are facing. There is one counselling committee for student welfare, known as DSW. Students can reach out to them for guidance and support.
Night Life
For Girls, their in-time for hostels is 10 P M Sharp, but there is a Nescafé built inside the girls' hostels. But for boys, there is no time for hostels; they can roam around, take a walk or go to canteens as well. SNACKERS and NESCAFE are two go-to spots for late-night cravings.
