Course Curriculum Overview
VIT follows FFCS. It is one of the best curriculum in India. Students have the flexibility to choose the courses they to do at any particular semester. But there will be minimum and maximum limit for the courses we can choose.
Placement Experience
A huge number of companies come to VIT for placements. It starts at the end of 6th semester and continues. There are 3 categories on placements in VIT based on the package the company offers( namely regular, dream and super dream). Some companies also offer internships. Usually each company selection process has 3 rounds. First, Online exam. VIT has placement cell which organises all the exams based on the requirements and request of any company. Secondly, Technical interview. Students shortlisted from the online exam can attend the second round. Lastly, HR interview. Students who clear all these rounds will be selected by the company.
College Events
Gravitas and Riviera are the best events organised in VIT. Gravitas is a technical fest in which people from various companies or universities come to take sessions or conduct workshops for the interested students (most of the sessions are to be paid by us). Gravitas is held for 3 days in every fall semester. In Riviera, there will nothing related to studies. There will only be fun. It is held in every winter semester for 4 days. These fests are mostly organised by students with a little help of faculty coordinators.
Fee Structure And Facilities
As i said, It depends on the category during the counseling. In general category 1 seats will have lesser fees amount compared to other categories. When i joined VIT, the tuition fee for category 1 seat is about 2 lakhs per annum and the category 5 or 6 has more than 4 lakhs per annum. Fee for hostel and food is seperate
Fees and Financial Aid
A batch of students known as star batch has huge scholarship facility. Star batch is applicable only for the students who studied in Tamilnadu till 12th and have excellent score in the final exams. The banks in VIT offer loan facility for the students.
Campus Life
There are various clubs and chapters in VIT which are completely organised by students. These clubs or chapters organise events or workshops or small session to spread the knowledge they gain. Thay acquire funds from VIT administration and various organisations for these activities. These help a student for overall development in terms of knowledge. Students can also opt for Swimming, gymnasium, karate, yoga etc.
Alumni/Alumna
Vellore institute of technology always trys to keep in touch with its alumni students. Alumni can come to college all the time except during Gravitas and Riviera fests. VIT also conducts alumni fest events in which lots of former students come with their families.
Admission
The college conducts VIT Entrance exam every year and the students under the qualifying marks can attend the counseling. There will be categories of seats available for different ranges of ranks. Each category has different fee structure. It will be better if someone gets in the first category. A student who is qualified in VITEEE can attend the counseling at any of the VIT branches.
Faculty
Some faculty are really supportive and talented. And some show partiality towards students. For example, I have Environmental science Subject in one of the semesters and Shanthakumar Kannappan was the faculty. He gives marks not according to the talent, creativity etc., but according to the region the student belongs to in the country.
