College Review

The college has a positive environment and it aims to groom its students in the best possible manner. The college faculty are sincere and dedicated. They are always there to help you out. The most important thing that the college emphasizes is to inculcate a sense of discipline in the lives of its students.

The curriculum is comprehensive and it is divided into semesters (semi-annual). SXC being an autonomous college is free to prescribe the syllabus and conduct examinations independently. Apart from the semester exams, we have weekly tests and assignments relevant to our curriculum whose marks are added to the semesters marks. Weightage has been adsigned to the assignments, weekly tests and semester exams. In order to clear a semester, a student is expected to perform well in all the 3 areas.

Yes, college caters to need of internship. It is mandatory for a student to undergo atleast 3 months of internship. Internship may be done privately or you may approach the college and they shall arrange it for you. As I had done the inernship in a private organization (CA FIRM) which works under the guidelines issued by ICAI, I am unable to comment on the stipend part. There are inadequate job opportunities, as the need of the hour is to get hard core professionals.

The college encourages its students to organize various cultural and educational events round the year. Besides various camps are also organized to benefit the society. Prominent events are Xavotsav, Xavullash, X-calliber, etc.

It is comparatively expensive considering the course offered. There are other colleges offering the same course at a much cheaper price. But, emphasis also needs to be given on the college environment. In my opinion, SXC offers an environment which helps a person to develop self but all this can be provided at a cheaper cost.

The college has a system of granting scholarship to the under-proviledged students. For that there are certain guidelines that have to be met. If you comply with the guidelines then you are provided with scholarships. However, it does not mean 100% fee waiver. Only a certain portion of the fee is waived off. I have not availed any scholarship facility provided by the college.

There are lots of extracurricular activities taking place round the year. The sports facility is good. There are spacious computer rooms. I have not seen a lab, so am unable to comment on it. The college has a huge ground and a basketball court to train the students.

SXC has a reputed alumni network. Every year the alumni network arranges for a musical night wherein distinguished artists are invited to perform. The alumni network caters to need of its members. I have never approached the Alumni network on any matter, so unable to comment on it.

Admission at SXC is primarily based on your 12th grade marks (i.e. merit based). Once you are selected, you are called in for an interview with the Vice Principal and the Dean. If you pass the interview, you are welcomed into the college. Besides, there is reservation system also for certain categories of students.

College aims to inculcate discipline in the lives of its students. We are taught to value time, encouraged to work on our weaknesses and overcome them. Emphasis is given to the attendance and we are encouraged to attend macimum lectures.
