Faculty

The faculty-to-student ratio is about 1:60, which is fair. Most of the teachers are friendly, polite, and easy to approach for help, whether in class or after hours. They’re usually open to doubts and extra support if you ask. I personally liked the maths faculty, English faculty, and the CSE (computer) faculty. They explain topics clearly, use examples while teaching, and are patient with students who may need a bit more time. As for the exams, each semester has three exams — MST1, MST2, and End Semester. MST1 and MST2 are internal exams, each out of 20 marks per subject, and they get converted into 10 marks each. Internals (total 40 marks) include these MSTs, plus 10 marks from assignments and 10 marks from other things like vivas, attendance, and quizzes. The end semester exam is out of 100, and it gets converted into 60 marks. The final score is a sum of internal (40) and external (60). The exams are quite fair and mostly based on what is taught in class. If you’ve attended lectures and revised the notes, passing isn’t hard. Very few students actually fail, unless they completely ignore the syllabus. The first-year course structure is relevant and builds a good base, with subjects from all engineering domains and basic sciences.

Internships Opportunities

The college does provide some internship opportunities, especially from the 6th semester onwards. Companies like Cognizant, TCS, CodSoft, and a few startups have offered internships to students in roles like web development, testing, basic software support, and cloud assistant. Some of these come with a small stipend, usually around 5,000 to 10,000 per month, though not all are paid. For example, in CodSoft internships, students worked on mini web apps using HTML, CSS, JS, or did tasks like bug fixing and UI cleanup. In Cognizant or TCS internships, the work was more structured—some helped in backend testing or worked on internal dashboards. A few of these internships were project-based and required students to submit basic working solutions or reports by the end. The college helps with forwarding such internship links and shortlisting names, but many students also find their own internships through LinkedIn, Internshala, or personal referrals to get more meaningful experience.

Faculty

The faculty members are highly experienced both in terms of qualification and expertise, as all of them are Ph.D holders. The faculty to student ratio ranges from about 1:5 to 1:10 depending upon the specific department. The proffessors are cooperative and approachable. We have a mid-semester exam, an end-semester exam and two theory quizzes for each subject per semester. Apart from that, lab viva and exams are also conducted for practical subjects.

Course Curriculum Overview

The course curriculum for the electronics and communication department is comprehensive as the topics which are taught provide an in-depth knowledge regarding the subject, in relevance to the industry requirements of the upcoming years. Students who pursue this course rigorously can also opt for higher studies. The frequency of exams is a bit high, considering the short span within which one needs to grasp all the subjects.

Fees and Financial Aid

For CSE core and CSE with specialisation in AI-ML branches at SRM Kattankulathur, the yearly tuition fee is Rs.475000, for four years, making a total of Rs.1900000. For other CSE specialisations (like cybersecurity, datascience, etc), the yearly tuition fee is Rs.375000. For non CSE branches such as ECE, EEE, Biotech, the fee is Rs.275000 per year. These fees remain the same for all four years of the B.Tech program and do not increase annually. There are no extra fees apart from the semester exam fees. Components like caution fee, registration fee, development fee, and lab charges are already included in the yearly tuition fees. Scholarship Details: Students can apply for scholarships based on their SRMJEEE rank(under 1000) or JEE Mains rank(under 10000). Depending on their rank, a scholarship of upto 75% off on tuition fee for the first year can be availed. However to retain the scholarship in subsequent years, students must maintain a 9.5+ CGPA each year.

Faculty

The faculty-to-student ratio is around 1:50, especially in popular branches like CSE. Most faculty members are approachable, qualified and helpful. I really liked Miss Sivakami, our Chemistry faculty - she explains concepts well and is kind to students. Another favourite of mine is Mr. Vijayakumar Reddy, the Japanese Faculty. His teaching style is very engaging and easy to follow. I haven't disliked any faculty member so far, but some lab assistants can be rude or even behave in a biased way, which does not feel right. We have 3 cycle tests every semester which are fairly easy and scoring. They cover the 60% weightage of total 100 per semester,i.e, the internals. The final semester exam is also manageable, but conducted with very strict supervision ( no tolerance for even minor issues ). It is out of 75 marks, which gets converted to 40 marks. Together they form a total of 100, which decides the grade. The CGPA is then calculated based on these grades.

Campus Life

My overall experience with campus life at NIT Kurukshetra has been truly enriching especially on the social and extracurricular front. The campus is full of diverse cultural clubs that allows students to explore their interests and express their true selves whether it's music dance drama literature or photography. The annual cultural fest Confluence is the flagship event and takes place every year in October it draws huge crowd and celebrity guests, last year artists like Mohammed Irfan and well known fans performed. The technical and managerial fest Techspardha is held in February or March and features student run societies like arrow molding club and EMR - robotics club attracting participants from colleges across India. The library is well stocked with a vast collection of academic and general books you can find almost any title you are looking for. Classroom are equipped with smart boards projectors and land connections and serving modern learning environment. As for sports Haryana land of accused the campus gives up to the spirit with excellent facilities. The annual sports fest Citus boasts intense competition across various sports.

The fee structure includes tution fees, student welfare fund, seat rent, etc., which totals 1,11,500 for the first semester. Thereafter, it varies by semester: ruppees 83000 for even semester and reupees 89000 for odd semesters exluding the mess charges which are about 34500 for each semester. The college provides a 2/3 tution fee wavier for students having family income less than rupees 5 lakhs per annum, and a full tution fee wavier for SC, ST, PwD, and students with a family income below ruppees 1 lakh per annum. The fee structure remains the same throughout the duration of course and does not change. One can find the detailed fee structure on the institute's website

Faculty

So we have good faculty in our college. The good thing about the faculty is that sometimes when we get late to class they just allow us to attend the lecture we arrive late just because of the local train in the morning. We had one of our faculty member called kanupriya ma'am she used to teach us marketing and i liked the faculty over the others in college. We have exams in a year where 2 semester exams are been conducted in the college.Exam marking scheme is good. And exams are not that tough to crack and pass in it

Campus Life

I didn't like the way how the college life is going on. Truly bad experience. Just because we don't see anyone in lecture as there in no attendance compulsory where in they just say that attendance is compulsory but at the end every student writes the exam. I have never joined any club or commitee in college I don't feel it's worth it staying in college till 12 in the night and coming back early in the morning.
