Ans. When you are talking about the normal person, you must be clear about who this normal person is. Is it a person who is in the middle when people are arranged as per the salary package they receive? If yes, then you are looking for the median salary value.  The median value of packages for old IIMs, XLRI, and FMS ranges somewhere between 18-25 lakhs per annum while for new IIMs and other B-schools, the median value ranges between 10-16 lakhs per annum. The packages differ year after year. Also, there are many factors that come into consideration while deciding the average package received by a normal person in any of the institutes be it IIMs or other b-schools.  The average package in a particular specialization may be higher in a specific institute. For eg: XLRI gets the highest median packages for HR specialization, but not for other specializations.  The table given below will help you understand the average package that a normal person receives at the IIMs, XLRI, FMS, and ISB.  College Average Package (2019-2020) Indian Institute of Management 18-25 LPA Xavier School of Management 21-23 LPA Faculty of Management Studies 21-25 LPA Indian School of Business 18-24 LPA Do not blindly rely on the placement reports as most of these reports are unaudited. Do thorough research before you apply for the management program.Read more

Ans. Choosing which is the better college among the others can be a daunting task if you don’t have certain parameters to decide upon. Not one or two, too many MBA aspirants get confused in choosing among these two colleges. There are certain prerequisites that can help you choose which one is better than the other.  Ranking: [Winning Institute - IIM, Ahmedabad] Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad stands out at the top among all B-Schools in most of the rankings. IIM, Ahmedabad is ranked #1 in NIRF 2020 ranking among all the management colleges in India. It is also the top IIM. Fees: [Winning Institute - IIM, Ahmedabad] The program fees for PGPX 2021-22 at IIM- Ahmedabad is INR 28 LPA while for the same program, the fees at ISB-Hyderabad is 39 LPA. Clearly, pursuing an executive MBA at IIM Ahmedabad will be more pocket friendly.  Number of Seats: (ISB Hyderabad > IIM Ahmedabad) This is an important factor to be considered before you even think to apply for the PGPX program at IIM Ahmedabad.  IIMs usually have a very less number of seats and undoubtedly, the competition to grab that one seat is also very high.  On the other hand, ISB, Hyderabad has an excess of seats for the executive MBA program which is the major reason why most of the MBA aspirants are targeting to get into the ISB, Hyderabad.  Admission Criteria:  To pursue an executive MBA from ISB, Hyderabad, a GMAT score of 700-750 and a work experience of 4 years will be enough. Though the selection committee sets certain grounds for confirmation of admission depending upon the student’s ability and aptitude.  On the other hand, at IIM-Ahmedabad, the entire selection procedure includes analysis of GMAT/GRE score, work experience, and other scholastics. You will have to go through many filters to get one seat at IIM-A. Apart from the parameters mentioned above, ISB, Hyderabad has become one of the top priorities among MBA aspirants. With the ISB Young Leaders Program and Early Entry Option, the institute offers opportunities to apply to the programs at an early stage.  The institute that you choose for an executive MBA program must fulfill your requirements. Therefore, set your own parameters and then decide.Read more

Ans. All the above-mentioned colleges such as XLRI, TISS, SCMHRD, and SIBM are excellent private colleges. Which provides good HR placements in comparison to IIMs. But if one has to choose between IIMs they can look at the information given below; IIMs are considered the best institutes for management studies. Currently, there are 20 IIMs in India with the oldest being IIM Ahmedabad and IIM Calcutta. IIMs are well-known institutes that bag top rankings in all aspects. In comparison to XLRI, TISS, SCMHRD, and SIBM, IIMs are more reputed and have given better placements to students. However, these colleges are right behind the IIMs, the pros of the college include that they provide better facilities than IIMs and they have smaller batches. Smaller batches lead to a better understanding of the course and the faculty provides more time for each student. In conclusion, IIMs are the more trusted group of colleges however, in terms of placements, all the colleges provide excellent placement percentages. For the year 2020, IIM Calcutta, IIM Lucknow, and IIM Kozhikode had the best placement record. For comparison, we can see the placements record of these top 3 IIM for the HR course. College Highest CTC (In INR) Average CTC (In INR) IIM Calcutta 80 LPA 28 LPA IIM Lucknow 54 LPA 20 LPA IIM Kozhikode 58 LPA 23 LPA Even though all the other IIMs provide excellent placements, the above-mentioned branches were able to get their students the highest packages. Therefore, apart from the private colleges which were mentioned above, these three IIMs, i.e. IIM Calcutta, IIM Lucknow, and IIM Kozhikode provide the best placements in India for HR.Read more

The summer placement is held in the 2nd term and final placements in the last term. More than 30 companies visited for FABM program for summers. Some of the companies are Godrej agro vet, Nestle, Corteva, UPL, Udaan, Licious and Everest instruments. More than 40 offers were made. For summers, the highest package was 1.5 lakhs per month by RB. The average was around 50K per month. 100 percent placement was achieved. My plan is to start my career as a manager in the supply chain.

Placements in our college are very good as compare to other B-schools. Every student gets placed in reputed companies within 3 days of the placement period. The placement cell does an excellent job in bringing reputed companies like Google, Deloitte, JP Morgan, and KPMG, etc., to the campus.

Dream journey which shaped my career for good

    Admission -

If IIM is the flagship institution in the management domain, IIM - Ahmedabad is the flagship institute of the IIM group. They have one of the most rigorous selection criteria amongst all of the B-Schools in India. Not to mention IIMA is the organizing body of the most prestigious management exam, CAT. Along with CAT exam scores, they allocate weightage to multiple factors like academic performance, diversity factors, performance in GDPI, work experience, etc. I took coaching from TIMES institute, where they helped me prepare for all these sessions. The only thing, I had to work upon was the confidence factor. The rest went pretty smoothly.

    Placement -
    10 /10

Being a premium management institute of the country, a number of companies line up to recruit students from the college. IIMA has recorded the highest package of 72 LPA, whereas during my batch the highest package was 40 LPA. Numbers for average package stands somewhere around 22 LPA. Companies that visit the campus, are top brands from different sectors. Some of the frequent recruiters from the college are KPMG, Accenture, Barclays, PWC, ITC, Axis, JP Morgan, etc.

IIM, Ahmedabad establishes a standard in terms of academics and the placement offered. The B-School transformed my life and the analytical approach I developed to approach a problem, was all thanks to the college and the faculties. Institute is a perfect amalgamation of academics and extracurricular activities leading to the overall development of the student. I would definitely recommend IIMA among other top B-Schools simply for the campus life and some particular faculty members.
