IIM Ahmedabad witnessed an exceptional placement season during the 2020 placement drive. The audited report of IIM Ahmedabad placements for the PGP batch of 2020 was released by the Indian Placements Reporting Standards (IPRS).
As per the report, the average salary has gone up remarkably at INR. 26.13 LPA from INR. 25.83 LPA last year while the highest domestic salary has gone down at INR. 55.88 LPA this year from INR. 70 LPA last year.
The Highest CTC offered under the PGP program was INR. 55.88 LPA, while the highest CTC offered under PGPx, stood at INR. 81 LPA.
Earlier this year, IIMA successfully wrapped up summer placements for PGP Batch (2019-2021) in just 3 clusters. Boston Consulting Group stood out as the largest recruiter extending 23 offers. Students received 19 international offers to work in Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore, France, and the Middle East. Tech giants Microsoft, Amazon along with conglomerate RPG were the top recruiters at laterals.

The audited report of IIM Ahmedabad placements for the PGP batch of 2020 released by the Indian Placements Reporting Standards (IPRS) reflects the average salary offered to the PGP/MBA batch 2018-2020 stood at INR. 26.12 LPA.
The highest salary offered stood at INR. 55.88 LPA, while the highest international salary offer stood at INR. 1.32 LPA. The average international salary offer stood at INR. 61.76 LPA.
A total of 388 job offers were made, out of which, 19 were made for overseas locations which included cities such as Dubai, Hong Kong, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Qatar. International offers were made in Consulting, Finance, Marketing & Sales and General Management.
McKinsey & Co.with 27 offers closely followed by Boston Consulting Group’s 23, emerged as the top recruiters of the season. Despite a market slowdown, the institute witnessed an increasing number of new recruiters (i.e. 38) visiting the campus.
As every year, IIM Ahmedabad rolled out 160 ‘dream applications’ up from 140 as of 2019, wherein meritorious students applied for their desired firms, despite having offers in hand.
There were 38 new recruiters this year, including Blackstone Group, Colgate, Daytoday Health, Diageo, FIITJEE, HCL Technologies and Strategy& (Middle East). Roles were also opened across geographies including Australia, Malaysia and Middle East.
As the institute provides a cluster-cohort placement process, placements were completed in two stages. The first stage is known as ‘laterals’ had firms interviewing experienced students. The second stage or final placement observed firms grouped in cohorts and invited in clusters for placement.
About 42% of the batch was eligible for lateral placements, which provided students an opportunity to optimally leverage their work experience. The laterals process included 44 firms from diverse sectors such as Technology, Banking. Consulting, General Management and Analytics.
At the domestic placement front, IIM Ahmedabad has recorded a marginal hike in average salary while the maximum salary has gone down.

The Third Cluster of the summer placements at IIMA was conducted on December 7, 2020, wherein, TCS emerged as the top recruiter with 15 offers in the Software cohort, and Vedanta stood as the highest recruiter in Core Manufacturing and Infrastructure cohort with six offers.

Ans. Overall, the placements were impressive at IIM Ahmedabad, as the students from the PGP batch witnessed the participation from 153 globally renowned organizations offering all the students over 182 coveted roles across geographies.
The PGPx batch received 120 offers and those students who had lost job offers due to the coronavirus outbreak have also got comparable offers.
