Christ University MCom FAQs
Ques. What is the difference between MCom General and MCom International Finance at Christ University?
Ans. MCom General covers a broad commerce curriculum including financial analysis, taxation, data analytics, Python, Power BI, and Fintech. MCom International Finance is more specialized: it adds Bloomberg Terminal training, NISM certifications, forex and risk management, Enterprise Risk Management Level 1, and a full semester-long internship in capital markets. For investment banking or international finance careers, MCom International Finance is the more targeted track despite the higher fee.
Ques. Does Christ University MCom accept CUET PG scores for admission?
Ans. No. Christ University MCom uses only the ET-CU, which is Christ University’s own remote-proctored test. CUET PG scores from NTA are not accepted. The ET-CU tests quantitative aptitude, logical reasoning, and commerce knowledge in 90 minutes. Candidates must separately register and prepare for the ET-CU even if they have strong CUET PG scores from other applications.
Ques. What career paths do MCom International Finance graduates typically follow?
Ans. Graduates typically move into equity research, portfolio management, treasury operations, risk management, and financial modelling roles at banks, NBFCs, and asset management firms. The Bloomberg certification and NISM modules add credibility for finance-specific roles. Some graduates also pursue the CFA charter after completing the programme since the curriculum builds familiarity with the core concepts tested in CFA Level 1.
Ques. How is the MCom admission selection different from the MBA admission at Christ University?
Ans. Both use a Micro Presentation and Personal Interview, but MCom uses Christ University’s own ET-CU entrance test rather than national exams like CAT or XAT. MCom also includes a Skill Assessment written round that the MBA does not have. Additionally, MCom selection explicitly factors in Class 10 and Class 12 academic marks as part of the holistic merit score, which is not a formal criterion in the MBA selection process.
Ques. Can MCom students pursue external certifications like CA or CFA alongside the degree?
Ans. It is possible but demanding. Many MCom students attempt CA Foundation or ACCA papers in the first year when the course load is lower. MCom International Finance students have a full-semester internship in year two, which makes pursuing intensive external exams alongside that internship semester very difficult. Planning the certification timeline carefully against the MCom timetable is strongly advised before enrolling in both simultaneously.
