Ques. What should I prefer, a PSU or an M.Tech? How is an M.Tech at IISC Bangalore? Also, which PSUs recruit for R&D sectors through the GATE?

● Top Answer By Disha Das on 22 Jun 21

Ans. It depends upon you whether you want to pursue your dream of getting a government job or pursue higher studies further. Either you pursue M.Tech from IITs or go for PSU jobs. It totally depends upon you what your interest level and what do you want to achieve as both are very different career options.  M.Tech from IISC Bangalore will be a good option for you. This college offers better facilities, faculties, environment, and atmosphere. If you want to pursue research studies then this option will be good.  If you want a job after M.Tech then you should go to IIT Bombay and IIT Kharagpur.  If you want R&D Profile then you should select you should go for M.Tech from IIT.  BARC, CSIR, HRDO and HAL recruit R&D profiles through GATE scores. It finally depends on you and how you want your career to be shaped further. Because both have entirely different outcomes. Both can be equally good for your career if you are dedicated enough.Read more

Ques. Which institute is better for theoretical physics (especially quantum mechanics) - IIT Kanpur or IISC Bangalore?

● Top Answer By Radhika Sashi on 01 Mar 21

Ans. Quantum mechanics is as exciting as it sounds. TIFR Mumbai or ICTS Bangalore will be great options. These institutes provide the fundamental outlooks of the course. For undergraduate, you can go to IIT Kanpur or IIT Madras. But if you want to pursue further studies go to the institutes recommended above. And if you are choosing Quantum Mechanics as your field of study, then opting for TIFR, located both in Mumbai and Bangalore, should be your primary priority. According to student reviews, TIFR (Mumbai or Bangalore) is better than IISc Bangalore.  TIFR is widely renowned to be the best for the department of Theoretical physics in India. IITK and IISc are known famously to concentrate, for the most part, on Engineering.Read more

Ques. Which is better, IISc or IIT Bombay?

● Top Answer By Dipak Sharma on 17 Feb 21

Ans. Among IISc and IIT Bombay, IIT Bombay can be considered a better option if you have a job-oriented vision. But the choice is very subjective and depends upon the candidate’s personal interest. The table below gives a brief level of comparison among the two institutes. Particulars IIT Bombay IISc NIRF ’20 Rank 3 1 Popular Courses B.Tech, M.Tech, B.Des, M.Des, M.Sc, MBA, Integrated M.Sc. B.Sc, Integrated M.A. and Ph.D., M.Des, M.Tech, MMS, Ph.D. Median Salary Offered Rs.27.8 LPA (B.Tech) Rs.50.9 LPA (M.Tech) Rs.11.5 LPA (B.Sc) Rs.18.22 LPA (M.Tech) Admission tests JEE Advanced KVPY, JEE Advanced, NEET Discussed below are the key differences between the two institutes.  Type of Institute:  The main difference between IISc and IIT Bombay is in the type of courses and opportunities offered.  IISc is a research-based institute in which students are pushed towards science and research. IIT Bombay is an elite engineering college that provides awesome salary packages to students. Students from IIT Bombay are seen to focus on research fields too. A lot of activities are organized in IIT Bombay, including several hackathons, robotics workshops, entrepreneurship awareness, and facilities, etc. Difference in Degrees: IISc Bangalore provides a B.Sc degree in Science and Research, whereas IIT Bombay provides the hotcake B.Tech degree. Admission: Admission in IISc Bangalore is on the basis of the KVPY examination mostly in which 40-50 thousand students participate and a few seats from JEE Advance.  IIT Bombay selects students from JEE Advance, which is considered to be one of the toughest exams, competing against 13-15 Lakh students in JEE Main and almost 20-25 thousand in JEE Advance. Considering the NIRF Rankings, IISc is the greatest institute in India, and IIT Bombay being just some below it. But as mentioned earlier, IISc is more research-oriented. So, you should choose depending on what kind of career you want in your future.Read more
