Ques. What is the rank needed for C.S. in NIT Surathkal?

● Top Answer By Amit Biwas on 14 Jun 21

Ans. To secure a seat in the CS department at NIT Surathkal you will need a minimum score of around 235 in JEE Main. If you belong to some category then, you will need to score 180 or above to get a seat in CS.  In terms of rank, you should be safe if you have a rank of around 2500-3000. Here is the required cutoff for CS at NIT K in recent years.  Category  HS  OS General  1000-1600 960-3181 OBC 355-613 683-2550 SC 158-259 376-968 ST  82-105 219-222 EWS 151-179 1071-1102 Hope this gives you some idea of what to expect.Read more

Ques. Which is easier, EEE or ECE at NIT Surathkal?

● Top Answer By Tanushree Sen on 10 Jun 21

Ans. I have a few friends at NIT Surathkal and based on the conversation I had with them, I will say at NIT Surathkal, ECE is considered to be the toughest branch.  The academics and research are taken very seriously in the department.  The professors are demanding and highly qualified than other departments.  In this department everyone, from HOD to lab assistants, everyone is serious about studies and making a point about academic rigor.  The exams are also very tough and students even fail in lab examinations too.  But the scenario at the EEE department of NIT Surathkal is slightly different and its biggest advantage is that it has a relaxed attendance policy, unlike other branches. The recent placement statistics for the branches are as follows. Branch  ECE  EEE Average CTC 8-9 LPA 5 LPA Highest CTC 24 LPA 30 LPARead more

Ques. Should I opt for MNIT Jaipur for CSE or NIT Surathkal for IT? Jaipur is close to my hometown.

● Top Answer By Samita Saha, on 10 Jun 21

Ans. MNIT Jaipur is pretty decent when it comes to these two colleges. Apart from the location advantage, here are some major reasons why you should choose it. Placements: MNIT Jaipur being a good engineering college will get you better placements for CSE any day. 2020 placement drive recorded the highest salary of 38 LPA while the average CTS was 8.03 LPA. Coding Culture: My friend is studying at MNIT Jaipur and honestly, You will be a little bit disappointed at first in terms of coding culture. However, there are ample online resources to learn some. Location: As you are mentioning that Jaipur is close to your hometown, then it’s a cherry on top. The location is indeed an advantage here and will get you various perks. Infrastructure: MNIT Jaipur definitely has better infrastructure and facilities as compared to NIT Surathkal. All in all, MNIT Jaipur has an edge over NIT Surathkal. CSE from MNIT is one of the best CSE programs among NITs.Read more

Ques. Which is worth taking, BITS Hyderabad ECE or NIT Surathkal ECE?

● Top Answer By Rahul Roy on 09 Jun 21

Ans. My friend from school used to be a student of BITS and he said he’d a great college life. One thing he assured of, however, BITS does help a lot in finding out the true calling of its students no matter what course they end up selecting. The advantages promised by BITS to its students are: Better classrooms and labs among other infrastructure. A rigorous yet flexible academic course with improved teaching. As students join on merit, the quality of the students is superior. No reservation for SC/ST/OBC. You will get the opportunity to make your timetable and select your faculty. NIT Surathkal is also at the same time, falls among the top NITs. It, however, lay stress on the attendance. But the point is if you believe that your true calling is ECE, you can very much go for NIT Surathkal. It does not promise the freedom provided byBITS, though. Placement Experience :

In 4th year student is eligible for campus placement. For my branch - tata Steel, coal India , HCL , NYLand many more. For my branch highest package is 16 lac last year and the average is 9 lac . For my branch 94% of students getting placements My plan after getting a degree is the placement

Remarks :

First, the exam called JEE mains held and if you get good rank in that then one should have to fill the form at the time of counselling and have according to that one get a college. Counseling is quite a simple and easy process they just check the certificate and documents and approve them and ask some silly questions.

Placement Experience :

From the 6th semester students will be eligible for campus placement, Google, Infosys, Microsoft etc. Highest package is 51.4 LPA average is 10.4 LPA (2020 DATA). The percentage of students getting placed is 90.8% My plan is also to be get placed over there.

Remarks :

A well-situated college in the aspects of nature and climatic conditions. As for me, the education is wonderful, it is a large campus which is having two campuses. The admission process is a bit inadequate as compared to other colleges, I joined this college on 27th July 2019. The reason for choosing this college is that it is one of the top colleges in India in the engineering sector and that too in Karnataka it is situated. I haven't used this college name on any website other than here.

Remarks :

The brand, NITK is among the top 3 NITs in India. The peer group is excellent and a lot of exposure is provided at a very early age. Placement is also at par with some of the IITs and best among the NITs. NIRF rankings are improving significantly every year, with increasing collaboration with other universities and infrastructure. Mangalore is also a nice city to live, very green and clean, with a lot of good places to visit nearby. The downside is weather isn't that great, very hot and humid in summers and it rains like hell during monsoons. The faculty isn't that great teaching wise, although they have huge knowledge and exposure. They have gradauted from top universities and have good research experience. The research and entrepreneurship facilities aren't that great but they are improving gradually. I used Siksha.com, collegedunia, collegedekho as my reference.

Placement Experience :

College has excellent placements, and internship opportunities. People in 6th sem onwards are eligible to apply for internship and 8th sem onwards can apply for placement. Highest package was that of Microsoft with 42 lakhs and average was around 7 lakhs. There were around 400 companies that visited last year and recruited around 900 people. There is almost 100% placement. I have a job offer from a reputed IT firm.

Placement Experience :

From 7th sem students become eligible for campus placement and are recommended in campus internship from 6th sem from cdc-nitk. Microsoft, bosch, Citi bank, Goldman sacs, jp morgan, orale, etc, come for campus placement.

Remarks :

Isro is partnering with nitk and has set up a regional academic center for space, research labs, huge research internship opportunity possibly getting recommended for isro placement interview, has shown huge nirf engineering ranking growth from 21 in 2019 to 13 in 2020, all campus renovated without a penny increase in fees, research funding and the placements were record-breaking though given the pandemic situation, with 85% placed in the first round grew to 92% in the second and rest admitted in best universities abroad and at iisc. the whole process of admission was completely online, with no physical document verification as years earlier.

Placement Experience :

The placement drive of 2019 witnessed 100% placements in BTech and 79% placements in MTech. The highest package offered this year was 39 LPA. The number of PPOs has seen an increase of 25% as compared to previous years. Career Development Centre is the placement cell of NITK. It is the job of CDC to invite companies for recruitment and prepare students for the industry. Adobe, Amazon, Capgemini, Century Link, CITI Bank, Deloitte, Deutsche Bank, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan Chase, Microsoft, Myntra and Oracle are some of the leading companies visiting this college to hire the students of this college.

Remarks :

Admission procedure to NITK was done by ease without any physical meeting. Admission was completely online. Through Josaa website, you should regularly keep visiting for knowing admission status. Thee College had its own website in which fees was paid through IRIS portal. Admission was secured on 15th of nov. Pros of college: 1.Main reason or plus point of college is Being an NIT. 2.High placement percentage of nearly over 97%. 3.Huge campus of nearly 300 acres. 4.Good instructors who have been highly qualified. Nearly everyone has a research background. Main CONS of college not only this but every college in 2020 is distance learning. Distance learning doesn't develop bonding by teacher and student. The college has a highly competitive atmosphere which won't let you down. These are the main reason for preferring NITK over others.

Placement Experience :

Placements are really good and at par with other top NITs. The alumni network is strong and opportunities are good, the CS and IT branches have excellent packages. There is a lot of analyst and a couple of consulting companies that also come for placements and offer an average of 8LPA. companies like Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, texas instruments, Qualcomm, Wells Fargo, fedility visit the college every year. The highest package is for the CS/IT branches usually one of the top companies like Microsoft. Mechanical engineers have a maximum package of 18 lakhs given by PSUs. The average package for mechanical is around 7-7.5. Usually every year the placement percentage is more than 95. I'm planning to work now.

Remarks :

It is one of the old NITs and is very prestigious. It offers good placement opportunities and a location that unique. It is located just beside a beach, has a huge campus. The research capability is really good and most of the alumni are in very good positions, the package offered for CS and IT branches is really high and other programs too have average packages much above other colleges. NITK comes under the top 3 NITs and has been maintaining the position since a long time. The semester usually starts from July 3rd week and there is a break after every semester, winter break usually is one 25 days and the summer break lasts for about two months. The admission process usually is done within a day.

Placement Experience :

You become eligible by the 7th semester. At least 40 companies came for placement as far as mechanical was concerned. 99% placement was the going rate at the time. The highest package was I guess USD 200k offered by Microsoft and Google.

Remarks :

Ranked top in mechanical engineering and one of the top 5 colleges in India at the time. Could avail of the home-state quota at the time instead of opting for the other college for engineering that I got through state CET (BMSCE). Admission date was Jule 23rd and process was done within an hour and was called rank wise and asked to select the programs of choice in order. I got selected in chemical engineering branch but later was internally slid to mechanical during the further rounds of counselling. This college was the only that had a private beach and was reputed in the state considering I did most of my studies in Bangalore.

Placement Experience :

From 7 th sem itself students are eligible for placements Many multinational companies like Microsoft ,Amazon , google will visit our college every year. All most all people will be recruited. Highest packages will be 45 lakhs and average packages will be 8 lakhs and 9 lakhs. 92 percentage of students get placed last year and remaining will choose higher studies and startups. I am planning to get the job in multinational company.

Remarks :

This is the one of the top college in india among iits and nits, actually I want to study ECE branch that's why I had chosen this college where I got seat in the josaa. The college is very nice to study, good professors to teach and multinational companies will come to hire people for jobs, nice platform to fulfill our dreams. The bad aspects are nothing in the college. The admission process starts with the entrance exam jee main and then seat allotment process conducted by josaa through multiple rounds then we have to come to college and confirm the seat in the last round. Reason is I want to study in nits or iits unfortunately I didn't got iit so in nits it is top college. I just enquired the college website that is IRIS nitk.
