KIIT: Students' Opinion

AI-Generated Summary based on 1 Reviews

The KIIT Engineering program requires prospective students to begin with the KIITEEE entrance exam. After results, candidates receive a rank letter; a rank of 22,707 was mentioned. Eligible candidates attend counseling to choose their preferred branches. In the third round of counseling, branches like Computer Science and IT were full, but the candidate secured a seat in Electronics and Electrical Engineering. A 75,000 INR fee was required at counseling, with additional fees for hostel, mess, and tuition due later.

The faculty offers strong academic support, including tutor-mentors for both academic and emotional guidance. The college's fee structure is costly, not covering certain activities such as gym and sports, which require extra payment. Despite a hostel fee of Rs. 21,000, some basic facilities are lacking and renovations are incomplete. The college has a strong placement record, with average salary packages of 5 to 6 lakhs per annum and the highest at around 33 lakhs.

Internship opportunities exist, but students must meet criteria or pay, with stipends varying. No loan facilities are provided by the college; students must secure loans independently.

KIIT: 2 Answered Questions

What is the course: electronics and computer science engineering at KIIT?

Ananya DasguptaStudied at Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT)

As a reflection of the sheep mentality, the majority of engineering aspirants can be seen running after CS or IT. However, I will suggest you also give preference to your interests first.

Electronics and Computer Science Engineering is a recently launched branch at KIIT and is actually great. Not many batches have passed out yet, but the branch seems promising like any other branch at KIIT.

  • In the first year, the same foundation courses are taught that are common in all the branches. These include Physics, Chemistry, Basic Electronics, Engineering Mechanics, etc.
  • From the second year, you will be intrigued by the ECE concepts. Out of the overall curriculum, approximately 55% weightage is given to electronics subjects and 45% weightage is given to CS subjects.
  • From what I have heard, the subjects taught to ECE are easier than the subjects taught to CS and Electronics students individually.

In all, Electronics and Computer Science Engineering is a decent choice especially if you are interested in the field. However, if you are still aiming for CS, then you can opt for a branch change after one year. The cut-off for branch change is 8.5 CGPA but to get into CS you will need around 9.2+ and 8.9 or more for IT.
