Tamil Nadu Agriculture University (TNAU) ia an agricultural university which offers UG, PG and Research courses in its educational module to candidates who satisfy the required eligibility criteria. TNAU offers admission to B.Tech., B.Sc., M.Tech., M.Sc., MBA and Ph.D. programmes at its different campuses situated at Coimbatore, Trichy, Madurai, Mettupalayam and Periyakulam. 

  • The University offers UG courses in 12 disciplines, Masters programme in 33 disciplines, regular Ph.D in 27 disciplines, integrated Ph.D in 4 disciplines and external Ph.D by research in 28 disciplines
  • The candidate must have have completed Class 12th in the relevant subjects for being eligible to apply for B.Sc. and B.Tech. 
  • Admission to UG courses is based on marks scored in 10+2 in the relevant subjects
  • Minimum eligbility for M.Sc., M.Tech., MBA is, the candidate must have obtained B.Sc./B.Tech/BE in the respective field.
  • The University conducts an entrance test for admission to M.Sc.,M.Tech and MBA courses.

TNAU B.Sc. and B.Tech. Admission 2019

TNAU offers admission to B.Tech. (4 years) and B.Sc. (3 years) programme in various specializations for which the registration will begin from May every year. The minimum eligibility for the B.Sc. and B.Tech courses is, the candidate must have completed Class 12th with minimum 60% marks in the relevant subjects in aggregate. 

The selection of those applied for the course, will be done on merit basis and online counseling process after that. Students with highest scores are shortlisted for admission to TNAU.  Students can apply for these courses by logging on to the official university website. A stipulated application fee of INR 1000/- must be submitted by the candidates which can be paid online as well as offline.

Key Note:

  • Admission to M.Sc., MBA and M.Tech. programs is done on the basis of entrance test conducted by the university in which General Agriculture (15 marks), Aptitude (10 marks) and Specific subject (75 marks) are the prime sections. The students who are shortlisted are further called for the group discussion round.
  • A candidate is allowed to apply for a maximum of two subjects under Master’s programme and has to pay a separate fees for each subject. 

TNAU Integrated M.Sc-Ph.D Programme 2019

Integrated Ph.D is a four year research degree which incorporates a three year Ph.D thesis with one year of course work. This course work comprising of General research along with the discipline specific research. Scholars have to complete the first three trimesters with CGPA of 8.5 at least. Students, not meeting the minimum CGPA requirement after 5th trimester, will not be permitted to continue their Ph.D priogramme but may be offered a choice of transferring into a Masters programme by maintaining the required credits in the subsequent trimesters. After that, they will be awarded with the M.S degree.

Note:

  • Students who have passed a four-year degree program of any state agricultural university are eligible to apply. Students of affiliated colleges of state agricultural Universities alone are only eligible to apply.
  • For Masters & Ph.D programmes, only those students are eligible to apply who have scored 70% marks in aggregate (3 out of 4 & 7 out of 10 in a CGPA system). For SC/ST students, a pass in the qualifying degree is sufficient.

TNAU Ph.D. Admission 2019

The university offers admission to research programs as well, in which Ph.D. courses have many specializations. TNAU Reservation Policy 2019

The University follows the reservation criteria set by the Govt. of Tamil Nadu where some percentage of seats are reserved for the candidates falling under the following categories:

Note:

  • The students who will be intimated for counseling need to pay Rs.2000/- to generate the call letter. (Rs.1000 for SC/ST/SCA).
  • Counseling for NRI and Industry Sponsorship quota will take place in the month of July. Admissions for UG courses will close on August 31 (tentative)
  • The final round of selection to courses offered by TNAU is personal interview, conducted for PG as well as Ph.D. programs in which the candidates are judged on Communication Skills as well as Experience and Subject Related knowledge
  • All the necessary documents like ID proof, address proof, graduation certificate or passing certificate should be carried by the students at the time of counseling as well as interview.

TNAU Distance Courses Admission 2019

TNAU offers B.F.Tech & M.F.Tech, MBA & M.Sc courses under the Directorate of Distance & Open Learning (DDOL), TNAU. This department offers distance programmes through correspondence mode. In order to interact with the students, DODL conducts the Personal Contact programmes (PCPs). Minimum 60% attendance is required in PCPs to take the final examination of DODL. Self-instructional manual is provided by distance centre after receipt of the fees.

Application for TNAU DODL courses: Students can download the application form available at the official website of the TNAU or may contact to the DODL department directly.

Note: Students can file a request for re-evaluation or re-totalling in the prescribed format along with the fees to the Controller of Examination, DODL, within 30 days after the declaration of result. Requests thereafter will not be considered.

TNAU Application Process 2019

For UG courses:

Candidates wanting to apply to any of the courses available at the University can do so by filling the application form through the Online mode. For Docotoral and Ph.D. the application form also has to be sent via post. Following is the procedure the candidate has to adopt for registration:

  1. Visit the official website.
  2. Click on “Undergraduate”.
  3. Click on “UG Admission 2019”
  4. Click on “New Registration” and your application form will get opened. 
  5. Fill all the details correctly.
  6. You will receive user ID and passowrd on your registered email and mobile phone.
  7. Click on “Proceed to Application” button.
  8. The cost of the application form for the general category students is INR 600 (INR 300 for SC/ST/SCA candidates) which is to be paid to the University through a payment gateway. 
  9. The candidate can choose the payment gateway in the form of Debit/Credit/Net Banking facility. 
  10. You can login again with your user ID and password to download and print Joint Declaration Form and Appendices / Checklist.

Note: It is also adviceable to note down the user ID and password for future references.

For PG and Doctoral courses:

  1. Click on the official website.
  2. Click on Postgraduate.
  3. Click on “PG Admission 2019”
  4. Click on “New Registration and your application form will get opened.
  5. Fill the application form and download the application form.
  6. Pay the application fees of INR 1000 (INR 500 for SC/ST) per subject through online mode.
  7. Send the hard copy of the application form along with the relevant documents and superscribe the envelope as “Application for Masters/Doctoral Degree programme”.
