University of Calcutta Reviews on Placements, Faculty and Facilities

I'm not really sure about the placements but I have heard it from the seniors that there are seminars held by the college cell for the students of higher semester. It is combined with brainwave University.

There are several placements for some of honours courses like statistics, economics, physics and chemistry. Placements are average, but anyone should definitely opt for the opportunity provided by the college.

Being an English course student, this course impacts my day-to-day lives as the language has extensive usage in terms of communication. The courses at Vivekananda College are taught with care and brilliance, making it easier for students to navigate their futures in the academic field. The exams are done every 6 months from when a semester starts with internals being done 2 months prior in order to prepare us for the final exams. The papers are reasonable and can be answered gracefully if one attends the classes regularly.

All the science subjects are equally important but I choose chemistry honours at my first priority because of its uniqueness. Chemistry is so much related to real life, and it has vast application in real life. To explore and to know more about it and hopefully to invent some new things that can help the entire human civilization I choose it.

Asutosh College is the first college to introduce psychology as a subject under Calcutta University. The faculty is the best, the frequency of exam is moderate since the syllabus is huge. Both students and teachers struggle to complete the syllabus in time and take practice tests for revision

The overall course is great in my opinion. It helps in understanding the chemistry subject well. There is also a programming language called Fortran that we were supposed to learn which helps in numerical or computational aspects of chemistry. Having programming knowledge also gives boost in the current world.

I am a history honours student, Bachelor of Arts and this doesn't include any practical task. All of it is theory and the professors dictate notes time to time. We were supposed to go to a historical site as a part of tge project, and even after qlot of planning, the faculty did not execute it. We have missed out on real time college experience.

Though they do not provide any on campus placements but you can get guidence from the teachers on how to apply of campus. They groom you for how you can apply for off campus drives. certain mock placement trainings are given so that you can apply in off campus drives.

I always adored my subject which was English.I made the decision in school that i want to do further studies on this subject and it always made me happy whenever i used to read a novel based on rennaisance or the victorian age and i knew that i have to take this subject when i get in a college.English is a language without which we cannot go anywhere in life noone will give any job in any sector whatever we do we must learn English and as i opted for honours degree english was my most strongest point. I think whatever changes that must be brought is in the examination system the semester wise exam process must be changed and there should be yearly examinations and teachers should give us students more time to learn before holding internal exams.The teachers should take weekly test after teaching a topic which helps in easily memorising a specific topic.

When I passed higher secondary exam, then I want to go bsc honours degree and the mathematics department of narasinha dutt college inspires me to choose this subject. After that i think i have done the right choice to be in this College. Teachers teached us so that we can go higher level and crack any exam. If they want to improve then i should tell that sometimes teachers are absent and the timing of classes are not up to the mark. They should watch the timings of exam so that everyone can go through a strong education.
