Amity Noida Ph.D. (Horticulture) FAQs
Ques. Is the Ph.D. in Horticulture at Amity Noida available in part-time mode for working professionals?
Ans. Yes. Amity University Noida is noted as the first in India (and possibly the world) to offer Ph.D. (Horticulture) in Part-Time mode for in-service candidates, including those from foreign countries. Working professionals must submit an NOC from their employer at the time of joining. The academic fee for part-time at Noida campus is Rs. 75,000 per semester. The Amity Research Fellowship (ARF) is available only for full-time scholars.
Ques. If I have cleared UGC-NET or ICAR-JRF, do I still need to appear for the Amity entrance test?
Ans. No. Candidates who have cleared UGC-NET (Category 1, 2, or 3), CSIR-NET, ICAR-AICE-JRF/SRF, GATE, DST-INSPIRE, DBT-JRF, or similar national-level exams in the relevant field are exempted from the Amity PhD Entrance Test (APET). They only need to appear for the interview before the Faculty Research Committee (FRC). The exemption certificate must be submitted at least two days before the scheduled PET date.
Ques. What is the Amity Research Fellowship (ARF) and how do I apply for it?
Ans. The ARF is a merit-based fellowship for selected full-time Ph.D. scholars providing a stipend of Rs. 37,000 per month. To be considered, candidates must express interest in ARF at the end of the Ph.D. application form on www.amity.edu/phd. A separate interview is conducted after the regular Ph.D. admission process. Candidates must be below 28 years of age and have at least 55% in their Master's degree. ARF recipients are required to assist in teaching for 8 hours per week.
Ques. What research areas and facilities are available under Ph.D. (Horticulture) at Amity Noida?
Ans. The Amity Institute of Horticulture Studies and Research (AIHSR) focuses on post-harvest technology and cold chain management, floriculture, vegetable science, fruit science, and sustainable/organic horticulture. Ans. Amity University Noida accepts Ph.D. applications twice a year for January and July sessions. For the July 2026 session, the last date to apply is 30 April 2026, with PET scheduled on 11-12 May and 15-16 June 2026. Ques. What happens if I take longer than 3 years to complete my Ph.D.?
Ans. The minimum duration for a full-time Ph.D. at Amity Noida is 3 years (6 semesters). Scholars who are unable to complete within this period must continue paying the semester fee of Rs. 50,000 per semester for each additional semester they remain enrolled, until the Ph.D. is completed. The security deposit of Rs. 10,000 is refunded only upon completion of the programme.
