Ques. Which is better, Syracuse University or the University of Maryland?

    ● Top Answer By Mayank Badhwar on 13 Jan 21

Ans. Which one is a “better” university depends on what you are studying and what you want to achieve out of the education. Syracuse is a private institute in New York while the University of Maryland is a public higher education institute in Maryland. Ranking wise too both are ranked #58 among the top US universities by US News. So finally it comes down to your preference of study. You should visit both the campuses, talk to their respective admission offices and understand the opportunities available to the graduates. If however, you live in the states of Maryland or DC area, you should definitely consider the University of Maryland as being a state university, you can save lots on your education bills. University of Maryland has a very strong STEM program. Its engineering department which includes chemical engineering and fire protection engineering along with the traditional mathematics, physics and computer science departments are very well renowned. Their literature and criminal justice programs are also really very good. However, the professional courses offered by the university are just about average. This is where Syracuse University excels at. If you want to study public relations, advertising, film making, broadcast and digital journalism, you should choose the Newhouse School of Communications and the School of Information Studies of Syracuse University. Similarly the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs is excellent for public affairs study while The Whitman School of Management and the law school are also quite reputed in their field of study within the university.Read more

It is one of North America's most respected MBA's (certainly Canada's most respected), is 1-year full-time (I already had a 2-year full-time PGDM from IIM Lucknow)

    Course Curriculum :

The pedagogy, like most North American universities, is based not on rote learning, but on learning the basics well and then applying to various situations, thinking through problems and learning by doing. The courses are interesting, and divided into core (mandatory courses) and a wide array of electives

I did Civil Engineering after high school. I passed out in 2010. Then I did a job in a construction company for 5 years. In 2015 I decided to change my professional track and enter into marketing after doing an MBA. I wanted to do MBA from the world's renowned institutes so I applied to my alma mater besides some other MBA colleges. I applied online via the college's website, also submitted an undergraduate transcript bearing my overall GPA of 3.5, essays, resume, recommendation letter, test scores, and a $75 application fee. My college ran one of the best MBA programs of that time so when I got an admission offer I didn't delay a moment.

    Course Curriculum :

The course was a total 54 credit hour and that need somewhere near 12-17 hours per credit which is pretty extensive. The curriculum was solely industry oriented. In the first year we had to do detailed course which helped to build our skills and practical knowledge. In the final semester with the capstone project, we wrapped up everything we learned.

I came to know about the college from one of my seniors at work who happens to be alumni of the university. He said that the college provides a lot of opportunities and on his guidance only I applied to the college for an application fee of $75 through the coalition app.

    Course Curriculum :

I found the course to be more practical, unlike other MBAs. It includes educational tours and a hands-on start-up and management program that makes it very unique. Soft skills like speaking power, public speaking and presentation are also taken care of in the curriculum.

I have done my bachelor's in the stream of information technology and so this was my immediate upgraded course and that is why I just thought of applying to the university. The application I made was through the coalition app for an application fee of $75.

    Course Curriculum :

This is mainly a one-year-long course building on the basics of topics like algorithmic thinking, data structures and machine learning and automation. Also, the course teaches about system design and developing and testing full-scale application.

I did my 12th in commerce and later completed my 3 years of bachelor's in finance & accounting. I always wanted to pursue my career in finance and also considering the importance of finance in our competitive world, I wanted to maintain finance as my core and that is when my agent told me about the masters of science in accounting at Robert H. Smith School of Business. I was happy with the college reviews told by my friends based there and hence applied for it. My application was filed online by paying an application fee of $75.

    Course Curriculum :

My course dives in-depth about all the financial aspects of the business today. It has really helped me gain so much more knowledge in my field which makes the program worth it. The specialized coursework of analyzing and managing financial and tax data is something I had no idea about when I entered here and now is my favorite of all the subjects. The different ways of teaching coursework is great to help students like me gain more knowledge which would help me further in my career.
