Scholarship West Bengal: Steps to Apply

If the candidate fulfils the eligibility criteria for any Scholarship, they may apply for. Some Scholarships take offline applications while others have switched to online mode. The most common way to apply for West Bengal Scholarships is the OASIS Scholarship Portal, started by the government of West Bengal. The steps to apply for West Bengal Scholarship through this portal are as follows:

Step 1: Registration

  • Visit the official website of OASIS Scholarship Portal
  • Click on the Student Registration Option
  • Select the district where the candidate’s school/college is located
  • Fill in relevant details for caste certificate verification
  • Upon caste verification, candidates are led to an online registration where they have to furnish the required information and submit
  • This results in the generation of login credentials once the candidate presses the ‘download login information/OASIS acknowledgement slip’ button

Step 2: Login

  • Login using the permanent ID/ User ID and password
  • Furnish further information like the bank details and click on Save and Proceed
  • Once the Candidate is satisfied with the information furnished, they can click on verify and lock button. It is important to note that once verified and locked no changes can be made.

Step 3: Print & Submit the Form

  • Once the application is verified and locked, the candidate can press the “download application form” button to save/print a copy of the duly filled application form.
  • Once the application form is available in print with the candidate, it shall be submitted along with all supporting documents to the Block Development Officer (BDO) of the area.

It is important to note that not all West Bengal Scholarships are available through this portal but the application process for all of them is more or less the same. Some other scholarships are:

  • Swami Vivekananda Merit cum Means Scholarship for Minorities is available through the online portal of West Bengal Minorities Development and Finance Corporation
  • Hindi Scholarship Scheme needs to be applied through the offline postal system, with the post addressed to the Scholarship and Stipend section of the Education
  • Bigyani Kanya Medha Britti Scholarship and Jagdish Bose National Science Talent Search (JBNSTS) Scholarship are to be applied through JBNSTS portal.
  • West Bengal Talent Support Stipend Programme & West Bengal Merit cum Means Scholarship is applied through the B4S portal.
