Cambrian College Admission Requirements for Indian Applicants 2027
Cambrian College admission requirements for Indian applicants sit at the accessible end of the Ontario college band, with a minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
Graduate Certificate and Bachelor’s Applicants
- Academic: Three or four-year Indian bachelor’s degree with minimum 55% or CGPA 5.5/10 (recommended, based on GPA 2.5/4.0 minimum)
- English: IELTS Academic 6.5 with no band below 6.0, or TOEFL iBT 84 (0-120 legacy scale), PTE Academic 61, Duolingo 120+
- Credential Verification: WES ICAP evaluation of the Indian degree, transcripts and marksheets
- Standout requirement: Business Administration and IT graduate certificates require a related bachelor’s; unrelated backgrounds are refused
Diploma and Advanced Diploma Applicants
- Academic: Class 12 pass with minimum 55% (recommended); Nursing and health sciences require Class 12 Biology and Chemistry with 60% (recommended)
- English: IELTS Academic 6.0 with no band below 5.5, or TOEFL iBT 80, PTE Academic 58, Duolingo 105-115
- Pathway: Applicants below the English threshold can enter through Cambrian’s English for Academic Purposes program
Key insight: Cambrian College does not require GRE or GMAT for any program and does not offer IELTS waivers for English-medium Indian degrees, so the language test remains mandatory.
Cambrian College Acceptance Rate 2027
Cambrian College acceptance rate for international applicants sits at 70% (estimated), positioning the college in the accessible band relative to Ontario research universities. The figure is not officially disclosed by Cambrian and is derived from third-party admission-tracker aggregation.
Selectivity varies sharply by program: Practical Nursing and Medical Laboratory Technology are seat-capped and effectively close within weeks of the equal consideration date, while general Business, IT and Human Resources programs remain open through the cycle. Indian applicants clearing the 55% Class 12 and IELTS 6.0 thresholds have a strong shot at diploma admits.
Reality check: Cambrian College is a moderately competitive Canadian college of applied arts and technology, and the 70% headline masks near-100% admits for general Business against sub-30% odds for capped nursing seats.

Cambrian College Campus, Facilities and Student Life
Cambrian College operates three campuses across northern Ontario, with the 6,300 full-time student body concentrated at the Barrydowne campus in Greater Sudbury.
- Location and transport: The Barrydowne main campus sits 6 km northeast of downtown Sudbury, on the GOVA transit route with a monthly pass at CAD 73
- Housing: On-campus residence at The Residence and Conference Centre offers roughly 250 beds; the college does not guarantee international housing, and most Indian students take off-campus shared rentals at CAD 550-1,200 per bedroom
- Notable facilities: The Cambrian R&D applied research centre delivers over 100 industry projects annually and ranks Cambrian in Canada’s top 50 research colleges
- Indian student community: Cambrian hosts active South Asian and Indian student associations that run Diwali, Holi and Vaisakhi events on the Barrydowne campus each year
What Indian students say: Sudbury winter is brutal from November to March, so budget for a proper CAD 200-300 down jacket in the first month, and the campus international team responds fast to housing queries emailed before landing.

Cambrian College Placements and Career Outcomes 2027
Cambrian College delivers strong employment outcomes for Indian graduates, driven by co-op integration, Sudbury’s mining and healthcare employer base, and northern Ontario labour shortages.
- Graduate employment rate: 89% of the Class of 2024 employed within six months of graduation (Cambrian Employer and Graduate Outcomes Survey)

Compared across other Ontario CAAT colleges Indian applicants also shortlist, Cambrian College sits in the affordable mid-tier band with the strongest employer satisfaction score in its cohort.

Among northern Ontario colleges, Cambrian stands out on employer satisfaction (91.2%) and diversity of program mix (80+ full-time) while keeping annual living costs 30-40% below Greater Toronto Area peers.
Cambrian College works for Indian students who want a career-focused Canadian pathway without paying Toronto tuition; a total investment of INR 30-55 lakh across program duration set against a median graduate salary of INR 48 lakh delivers clear return on investment, and the three-year Post-Graduation Work Permit adds a concrete on-ramp to permanent residence.
Cambrian is not for applicants chasing global QS-ranked degrees, deep research careers or big-city co-ops; those profiles are better served by University of Waterloo, McMaster or a Toronto-based institution with named MBA cohorts and research funding.
Cambrian College FAQs
Ques. Can Indian students work part-time while studying at Cambrian?
Ans. Yes. Indian students on a Canadian study permit at Cambrian College can work up to 24 hours per week off-campus during academic sessions and full-time during scheduled breaks under the current IRCC rules effective from 2024. On-campus work has no hour cap. Students must have a valid Social Insurance Number and be enrolled full-time in a Designated Learning Institution program, which Cambrian is.
Ques. What is the application fee at Cambrian College for Indian applicants?
Ans. Indian applicants pay a non-refundable application fee of CAD 95 (INR 6,563) when applying through ontariocolleges.ca to Cambrian College. The single fee covers up to five program choices across Ontario colleges in one application cycle. Cambrian does not routinely waive this fee for international applicants, but the Ontario Colleges system periodically runs open-application fee promotions during specific weeks each cycle.
Ques. How long does Cambrian College take to release an admission decision?
Ans. Cambrian College issues most admission decisions within 4-6 weeks of receiving a complete international application. Rolling admissions mean early applicants get earlier decisions, and competitive programs like Nursing and Medical Laboratory Technology may take 8-10 weeks because they wait for the equal consideration date pool. The Letter of Acceptance is issued electronically and can be used immediately for study permit filing.
Ques. Does Cambrian accept the Duolingo English Test for admission?
Ans. Yes. Cambrian accepts the Duolingo English Test at 105-115 for diploma and certificate programs and 120 or higher for graduate certificates and bachelor’s degrees. The DET is a valid alternative to IELTS Academic 6.0 and TOEFL iBT 80. Indian applicants find the DET useful because it is cheaper at USD 65, delivered from home, and reports scores within 48 hours, though study permit officers still prefer IELTS in some visa files.
Ques. Which Indian banks fund education loans for Cambrian College?
Ans. Major Indian public sector banks including SBI, Bank of Baroda, Punjab National Bank and Canara Bank, plus private lenders like HDFC Credila, Axis Bank, ICICI Bank and NBFCs such as Auxilo and Avanse, fund education loans for Cambrian College because it is a Designated Learning Institution. Unsecured loans up to INR 40 lakh are common; secured loans above INR 40 lakh need collateral. Interest rates for 2026 sit between 10% and 13% per annum.
Ques. What health insurance is mandatory for Cambrian students in Ontario?
Ans. All international students at Cambrian College are automatically enrolled in the mandatory Guard.me international health insurance plan, and the premium is bundled into the annual tuition invoice at roughly CAD 600-900 per year. Coverage includes physician visits, prescription drugs, hospitalisation and emergency dental. Indian students landing in Ontario are not eligible for provincial OHIP as international post-secondary learners, so this policy is the sole primary health cover.
Ques. Can spouses of Cambrian College students obtain a dependent visa?
Ans. Spouses of Cambrian College graduate certificate, bachelor’s and advanced diploma students in specific IRCC-eligible programs can apply for a Spousal Open Work Permit under the November 2024 restricted list. Spouses of two-year diploma students in non-listed programs are currently not eligible for an open work permit but may still enter as visitors. Dependent children of any full-time student remain eligible for a study permit or visitor visa.
Ques. Does Cambrian College guarantee on-campus housing for international students?
Ans. No. Cambrian College operates The Residence and Conference Centre with roughly 250 beds on the Barrydowne campus, but housing is first-come-first-served rather than guaranteed for international students. Indian applicants should apply for residence within 30 days of receiving the Letter of Acceptance. The majority of Indian students take off-campus shared rentals in Donovan or New Sudbury at CAD 550-1,200 per bedroom per month.
