What is ACET 2027?

ACET stands for Actuarial Common Entrance Test. It is conducted by the Institute of Actuaries of India (IAI), a statutory body set up under the Actuaries Act, 2006. ACET is the mandatory entry exam for anyone who wants to pursue a career as a qualified actuary in India. Clearing ACET allows you to register as a student member of IAI and begin writing the full series of actuarial qualification exams.

Actuaries are professionals who use Mathematics, Statistics, and financial theory to assess and manage risk. They work across life insurance, general insurance, pensions, banking, and financial consulting. The actuarial profession in India is regulated exclusively by IAI, which makes ACET the only recognised gateway to this career path in India.

ACET is held 2-3 times per year — typically in January (when offered), June, and December. The exam runs for 3 hours and has 70 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) worth 100 marks. There is no negative marking and no sectional cutoff. You only need to score 50 out of 100 to pass.

ACET 2027 Important Dates

ACET 2027 Eligibility Criteria

The ACET 2027 eligibility criteria are straightforward. The exam is open to students from Class 12 onwards, as well as many working professionals. Here is what you need to qualify:

Educational Qualification

You must have passed or be appearing in Class 12 (10+2) from any recognized board. Mathematics must be one of your Class 12 subjects. Students who have appeared for Class 12 but are still waiting for results can register provisionally — they just need to submit results once declared.

If you are already a graduate, you can also take ACET. The following degree holders are eligible:

• B.Sc. / M.Sc. in Mathematics or Statistics
• B.Tech or B.E. in any engineering discipline
• B.Com, M.Com, MBA, or BBA (Finance or related fields)
• Chartered Accountants (CA), Cost and Management Accountants (CMA), or Company Secretaries (CS)

Age Limit

There is no age limit for ACET. A student who has just cleared Class 12 and a working professional in their 40s can both appear for the exam. This is one reason ACET attracts candidates from a wide range of backgrounds.

Number of Attempts

There is no restriction on the number of attempts. You can write ACET in multiple sessions until you pass. Since ACET is held 2-3 times a year, you can attempt it up to 2-3 times every year without penalty.

Result Validity Period

After you pass ACET, your result is valid for 3 years from the date of result declaration. You must apply for IAI student membership within this 3-year window. If you miss the window, you will need to re-appear for ACET.

If you studied Mathematics in Class 12, you meet the basic ACET eligibility. There is no minimum percentage requirement. The exam is accessible to any student who has Mathematics as a Class 12 subject.

English Language Requirement

ACET 2027 Application Process

The ACET registration process is fully online and takes around 20-30 minutes to complete. IAI opens the registration window for each session several months before the exam date. Here is how to apply step by step:

How to Register for ACET 2027

• Step 1 — Create an account: Go to actuariesindia.org and create a new user account. You will need your name, email address, and mobile number.
• Step 2 — Fill the application form: Log in and complete the ACET registration form with your personal details (name, date of birth, address) and academic details (board name, Class 12 subjects, and marks or appearing status).
• Step 3 — Upload documents: Upload a recent passport-size photograph and a scanned copy of your signature. Follow the file format and size specifications mentioned in that session’s notification.
• Step 4 — Pay the registration fee: Pay the fee online using a debit card, credit card, or net banking. The fee for the December 2026 session was Rs 3,000 (non-refundable). Check the official notification for the 2027 session fee, as IAI may revise it.
• Step 5 — Submit and download confirmation: Submit the completed form. Download and save the acknowledgement receipt. This confirms your registration for that specific session.

Step 1 — Apply for IAI Student Membership

Step 2 — Core Principles Exams (7 Subjects)

These are the foundational actuarial exams. All 7 must be cleared to progress:

After all Core Principles, you write these three practice-oriented exams:

To become a Fellow, the highest actuarial designation in India, you must:
