What is JIPMER PG?

JIPMER PG is the postgraduate medical admission programme at Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research, Puducherry. JIPMER is one of India’s premier medical institutions and a Centrally Funded Institution (CFI) under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), Government of India. Since 2019, JIPMER does not conduct a separate PG entrance examination. JIPMER PG 2027 Eligibility Criteria

The JIPMER PG 2027 eligibility criteria are set by AIIMS New Delhi for INI CET. There is no separate JIPMER-specific eligibility form — the INI CET eligibility applies uniformly across all 23 INIs, including JIPMER. Make sure you meet every criterion before applying.

Degree Requirement

• You must hold an MBBS degree from a medical college recognised by the National Medical Commission (NMC) or the erstwhile Medical Council of India (MCI).
• The degree must be included in the First or Second Schedule of the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956.
• If you have a foreign MBBS degree, it must be recognised by the NMC. You must also have cleared the NMC screening test (FMGE / NExT, as applicable).
• There is no minimum percentage requirement in MBBS to sit for INI CET — only a valid degree and registration are mandatory.

Internship Completion

• January 2027 session: You must complete your MBBS rotating internship on or before December 31, 2026.
• July 2027 session: You must complete your internship on or before June 30, 2027.
• Candidates who are in their final MBBS year and likely to complete the internship by the deadline may apply provisionally. Provisional admission will be cancelled if the internship is not completed on time.

Registration

You must hold a valid registration with any State Medical Council in India. This is mandatory both for appearing in INI CET and for taking admission at JIPMER. Candidates with foreign degrees must obtain provisional NMC registration before applying.
